I finally got a trem arm for mine, and its way fun. But man, that shit is squeaky as hell.

Mine is crazy squeaky too. I also had to tape the trem arm in because it didn't fit right and rattled like crazy

i put my trem arm in for like 5 minutes then took it out and haven't touched it since.
definitely not the sort of instrument i would use a trem for just cos of the really limited pitch bend range, but i guess some people get use out of it.
i'm planning to modify the tailpiece to make it a hardtail but i'll wait til the new strings arrive, unless Paul Rhoney starts making hardtail plates again.

Yeah I'm finding that I really don't use the trem arm on my Bass VI the same way I do on my guitars. I would definitely love to switch it over to one of Paul's hardtail plates

on a jazzmaster or jaguar i find the trem action is perfectly balanced for pitch bend amount vs force applied to trem bar but on the VI it's more like the force i need to put down to get the bends i would use is actively interfering with my playing. tbh i think something like a mustang trem would suit it wayyyy better.

I like the limited range of the trem, I really enjoy using it for a light vibrato on chords and the stiffness makes that easier.

Put the .102 string set from Circle K on my VI tonight and HOLY SHIT. What a difference. And I managed to get it to "close enough for rock and roll" intonation. I can dig in a lot more now without any strings slipping off the bridge. I love this thing so much.

Any Squier owners considering changing your stock pickups? I was thinking Lace Alumitones but I asked on the Lace Facebook (Lacebook?) and they recommended a purple/purple/blue sensor set.

I'll admit I didn't know what they were talking about, but after some research, this seems like a pretty good route.

I've also seen those Creamery pickups, but I haven't heard any feedback.

I like the sound of the stock pups but they're a little weak. My TAFM barely registers a note when the gate is on.

Dang, that sounds like a pretty weak output

Creamery is IMO the best route if you want a classic Fender VI sound. But alumitones... I'd dig that.

Played one of these today. It was awesome. I want it. BUT. I can't really use it in my band since it can't play the guitar parts and I definitely want to play my guitar parts.

So basically. Somebody needs to join my band and play bass vi.

I have the alumitones and they're fucking awesome. Super clear and loud, while still being able to get nasty with fuzz.
