into the current 12" celestion G12P (in a closed back cab) i have been running bass, treble and presence all a bit above noon, fac on 3 or 4 and sort of playing around with the gain... down low it has a really nice clean tone, but i do likes da crunch when i crank the gain and drop the master volume. i want "meaty" without "woofy" if that makes sense...

Going for different impedance or different speaker all together?

Impedance! Gotta switch to 8 ohms from 4

Or different speaker. Doesn't really matter so long as it can handle guitar AND bass

Gotcha, I would definitely say the Big Ben is more meaty then woofy, the legend 15" i have is def more woofy. Very opposite speakers as the legend has a bunch of mids like an old 70's celestion 15. They make a great full range pair though.

Fuck I hate when that happens.

Yeah, totally sucks. My Peavy was an oddball in that it only ran at 4 ohms, thus my cab being 4 ohms. Oh well. Maybe someone else can use a 4 ohm 12" speaker with 500w @ peak haha. Just gonna get an 8 ohm one when I can

man... that's a lot of great info. i would like something that will pair well with the warmth of the orange, and it sounds like i can dial back the bass on it to balance the inherent low of the bb.

thanks!

No prob! I think the BB would def work great with the OR80.

tell you what, dude... there is an astronomically small outside chance that i might be able to pick up something verrrrry special. if that does not come to pass (i will know by this weekend) then i do not see a good reason to not pass you a couple jacksons for dat cab. fair?

Lower power for the apartment. The Verellen Jet City would force me to swap speakers in my Verellen cab though...

For what you play, I'd be very curious to hear what you think about the Verellen Jet City.

Sweet! Sounds good to me dude. Either way. Dunno what I'm going to do with it if I can't sell it locally. I want to avoid Craigslist most definitely

Me too. I'm used to el84's cause of my Valve Junior, which seems to take pedals well, so I'm hoping the same goes for the Jet City. I'm planning on just setting it clean and maybe fooling around with the FX loop cause I've never really had one.

Now I'll play devil's advocate

The GVT15H stays clean and loud if you keep the gain now and crank the master, which is really nice, since I'm coming from single-volume-knob-no-gain-knob amp land.
