Was wondering how that configuration was going to be used, it all makes sense now and looks great

AH now I get it.
Sorry man, just did the double take after I read your last post there. At first glance my brain read it as three fifteens.
But that is a cool layout for that configuration.

Thank you both, the tallboy is actually a few inches taller than I normally make them cause he wanted the tallboy to match the other rig with the 212 and sunn cab, but he didn't have the dimensions of the sunn cab with the casters on it. But he didn't have a tape measure.. so I had to guess at the casters and guess which sunn 412 he had. But overall he's happy with it and I'm happy with it. he just about popped a boner when he saw it all and got to plug up to em.

And yea I'm actually really digging doing 212 115's that way. this is the 3rd one I've done like that and I plan on doing another one when I get back in town from work. also have 2 412's cutt out ready to be assembled when I feel like it... have to redo my shed to fit everything. :/

Finished the repurposed wood cab...
Image

Didn't have anything to cut a good circle so I improvised...actually came out cool looking, to me anyway. And sonically, it gives it the right amount of muffle for a kinda thumpy bassy tone. But it still has a clear more round high to it. The Altec Lansing sounds great because it can finally breathe.

I want to upgrade my valve jr to an old Peavey combo now, I think this bassy cab will pair well with a open back combo, and look BAMF stacked.

It's just the stock hot rodded one from Epi. So it has an added gain, as well as reverb. And boy does this thing have lots of reverbverbverbverb.

I'd like to mod it to 15ish watts and get rid of the harshness and hissiness, though.

Looks awesome and that baffle slit is quite a unique way to approach that.

Twas stoner ingenuity that built this cab. Lots of good enough, take another puff.

had a more elaborate plan of doing diagonal fence posts on the back side to help bracing a bit but the 2x12 floor joist main structure is rock solid as is, so I saved myself a the hassle. But I wanted to keep the fence post idea so...Bam

Bumping this thread because I just need a bit of reassurance from you guys before I dive into this cab build.

I've been without an amp for awhile. I've gone through 800's, 5150's, an old VH140-c I wish I never got rid of and a Dual Rec. However, my last "metal" band ended early in 2013 and I sold all of my heads and cab to fund starting school, as well as an Axe Fx because I didn't see myself playing out for at least a couple of years... It was the most logical decision at the time.

HOWEVER. I have recently fallen into a new band, in the vein of Speedy Ortiz, Ty Segall and generally the non-doom (sadly) side of fuzz. For this band I've been playing through nothing but a borrowed 60's Twin Reverb, a Carbon Copy, OCD and Pharaoh. Because of this I've fallen in love with the thought of fucking loud, clean amps with gain coming from my feet rather than on tap.

I miss having a head/cab combination more than anything, and picked up a 70's Sunn Sceptre on eBay today that's seemingly in great condition. Obviously I'm here because I want to build a cab versus buying one. I've worked in construction for years, so building the housing is not the problem here. SO.

I drive a 2012 Jetta and can't fit a 4x12, so I'm looking to build an offset 2x12. At this point I would like to add a second 2x12 granted this build turns out decent. I have my eyes on a set of Swamp Thangs currently, which are rated at 16 ohms. If I wire these in parallel, it will end up being an 8 ohm cabinet, yes?

The Sceptre (in the photo from the auction I won) has 16 ohm and 8 ohm outs. After some research, I found that instead of 16 and 8, it was just two 8 ohm outputs. This may be an incredibly ignorant question, but are these outs made to where they can run both simultaneously, or just one at a time? And if the amp has two 8 ohm outs, can I run a second 8 ohm 2x12 without any problems?

Thank you guys for any help you can provide, I've always been a plug-and-go kind of guy so I'm here for any suggestions and mental safety before I go blowing money on speakers.

2 16's will get you 8ohms.

You can run one 8 ohm cab or 2 16 ohm cabs cause when you run them it divides the power in half so each one will be 8 ohms.

so really if you plan on doing 2 cabs make them 16ohms instead. that way you aren't going to kill your head.
