well, what exactly have you been trying? i like weaving a paperclip (or a rubberband) through the strings and pushing it down near the bridge. clips work better if you can get them to stick straight up.

Well, I tried to borrow a few tricks from a Fred Frith video, but my acoustic has sort of high-ish action, so it was hard to find things that wouldn't just slip out of the strings

Was going to try to find something I could weave around the strings..but wasn't sure what to use...

I'm still a newb when it comes to prepared guitar..but it's something I've been interested in for a while as a listener :P

but it does take a special kind of person to really make one work

i've found that my favorite "spooky" thing to do with a ring mod is play dissonant triads...with the right setting they sound like church bells, especially into a reverb/delay or with some added modulation.

Jaguar -> MXR Distortion + -> MXR Blue Box -> Fender Twin

you could also do something from bc rich (i like mockingbirds, more subtle)
or maybe one of those fernandes guitars.. with the sustainer kits. seems cool.
