That's interesting, I loved it for the exact same reason. The buffer really worked well in my signal chain, and helped a lot to keep things clean without losing low end.
I didn't even know at the time, but mine must've been the MKI version. I'm pretty sure the buffer is one of the big improvements for the MKII.
I'm not even being cork sniffy about it, the buffer on the MKI really filtered out way too much treble/sparkle

They really are the perfect ones for me, though I do get that some people might want more fancy options in the current year.
I do love me some fancy options but I can barely play with them lol. It is just too much. The maxon is great cause it hasn't got all that excess delay time that just makes you sound off-beat. If I were to want longer delay I'd use my bosses but it's rare I go beyond 400ms

Good to know, mine was a MKII and I'll make sure to grab the same version if I ever want to grab another one.

I thought you could choose between buffer and TB with a little switch inside?
Been a few years since I had mine though, so maybe not.

I think the Maxon AD9 is the best sounding simple analog delay out there, but the delay time might be too short for some, plus no modulation or control over the tone of the repeats. BUT, what it does sounds fucking lovely as hell, and it's been one of my dearest pedals forever.
I think the Tonal Recall RKM probably checks all your boxes, but not sure. For a delay with more control but still loads of analog feel, I don't think it can really be beat. Biggest downside: cost.

it's only youtube but i absolutely hated the way the tonal recall sounded. i'm probably missing something because i hear about it a lot
i definitely love all the tweakability, especially the dip switches and cv options.
i fucking love shit like that.

I sometimes think people like the OP favour BBD analog pedals simply because of the lowpass filtering required to eliminate clock noise. Delay can sound chaotic, and murky filtered echoes are easy to distinguish from the dry signal. That being so, I'd suggest consciously embracing dark sounds. I like the Carbon Copy well enough, but am particularly fond of the obscure and *even darker* Pearl AD08, which is gloomier than anything on today's market (although some find it overly smooth).

if anyone has any suggestions on some pedals to throw in the FX loop of a DOD Rubberneck, please suggest away.
right after i got done with the meet maude review i started reading the nano pog review and it sounds perfect... tracking is supposed to be fantastic...
anything cool that would work for a delay loop guys! cheaper the better!

the MM was on my reasonably long, but not insanely so, list of analog delays to check out, but i happened across the rubberneck first and said fuck it, i could spend that time on something way less fun than researching analog delay pedals

I haven't messed with a ton of stuff in the Rubberneck loop yet, but I had a lot of fun with a Ps-6 there. I pretty much only use it in the sbend and detune modes though, so a regular octaver might not be as fun, though would still sound good I'm sure. If that's a thing you're into. The Pitch Fork could be good alternative to the Nano Pog, if you can deal with it's mix limitations (master blend, instead of individual).

oh man, boss ps-6 would be wild.
i dont know shit about pitch shifting pedals, so between the pog, the pitchfork and whatever brand other than ehx, i have no idea where to go, as far as which tracks the best etc
small footprint is a pretty big deal to me tho

Boss PS-2? In terms of tracking it's awful but it's and amazing whacky pitch shifter delay with lots of dithering and emphasis filter stuff. Also flangers and phasers sound sick in the loop of delays imo, really cool gothy dubby sounds. I use that a lot on my delay send in ableton, slow flanger with faster phaser gets nice and smeary

After the Nano Pog, before....mess around with it. A bit crusher would be cool too. Just put the compressor last in the chain to control everything I found.

I got my Rubberneck yesterday, and while I haven't had the time to mess with the loop on it, it sounds gorgeous. An absolute steal.
