so far nobody wants the buffalo,

To the best of my knowledge their usefulness would be to surround you and be a giant shield, which if the hawks could be used to attack targets or maybe the rats, it's not the worst defense. They could draw quite a bit of fire from the hunter and by the time he broke through the rats or hawks could have him, but that's a high risk strategy.

Useless Buffalo had a really great debut EP, but their new stuff isn't as good since they started clean singing.

I am down for rampaging polar bears. If I choose polar bears for my team, does one get a saddle and war armor so I can ride it into battle?

This thread is a generator for endless followup questions.

It's probably the greatest thread ever (which I say realizing that someone will ruin it by doing something stupid at some point)
Please don't ruin the thread ......... just talk about animal wars.

Yes if you can ride a polar bear into battle it would be awesome.
If they are an option I will pick them because they even scare me at the zoo.

Reading above it feels like we need to confirm that we get armor and weapons ourselves.

I think you'd have to use what was currently available to you. I'm sure you could fashion some from some shit laying around.

How many polar bears would be fair? They have the same defensive capabilities as the buffalo but more attack power.

We need Invisible Man to make this into a D&D campaign.

Equipment is definitely a key issue here.

If polar bears are in the mix, I feel like it's your game to lose. They're huge, they're strong, they're smart and they're really difficult to take down. If you've got at least 4, it's just a matter of picking a second choice that moves fast and either has tremendous numbers or fewer numbers, but a stronger attack and more resilience. If you don't get the rats, I feel like you need to get the hawks. Because if you're on the back of a polar bear, they can stomp through an onslaught of rats and keep going for a long time, but you can't defend against an air attack with rats, even 10,000 of them.

You have to fashion them out of your surroundings, so kill the buffalo first and then you can tan the skins and make clothes for the wolves.

Brings up a question: How much time do we have and where is everyone located at the start of the battle?

Wolves and hawks for sure. You’ve got decent numbers, speed, and they’re serious predators.

Rats is cool, but I think that many is destined to turn into quite a few rat kings, which become a burden on the group.

Polar bear is like "Hey little buddy, what's your deal? You wanna hang sometime?"

Maybe I’d do gorillas and rats in this really tall building scenario. Rats are for 100% of the defense, gorillas to live a life like the book Slapstick. If we die, we die.
