Like, who fucking knows what he's actually plugged in to, with that sweet shredgaze delay. The pedal is nowhere to be found in the clip. No clean tone reference or anything. He could be using any amp/pedal combination on earth. They just don't bother to even try saying "yeah here's the pedal right here, I'm plugged in to it!"

Is it supposed to be a pedal promo or a teaser for his new album? *Sponsored by Carvin*

What really got me were those sweet still frames of him, mid-ejac, with the pedal just sitting around somewhere. "Here's sweetie Steve and his pedal is on a music stand pretty close to where he is!"

Good gravy, that was the funniest thing I've seen all week.
I reckon he just plays straight into a laptop and they put all the effects on later.

"Was that soulless, 40 minute display of tiresome, regurgitated bullshit enough for you guys?"
"Yes, Mr Vai, we'll get that straight over to our funky funky blues metal department right away"

I'm not offended by shredding.

I'm just offended by bad cash-grabs and bad demos.

If that's what the pedal *actually* sounds like, with all the chorus and delay and verb on it...I want three.

But...

I'll see your three, furtkamp, and I'll take four. :snax:

Dude's still got fleet fingers.

Also, this's the name of our new band (everyone who's posted in this thread, it's gonna be a massive shred-a-thon):

DLR is criminally underrated. I was never a VH fan, but his solo stuff (and various interviews) has always kinda hinted that there's a lot more going on than just the zany party dude shtick, like actual depth under the surface, which has made me hear the VH stuff in a different light retroactively. Like, some kind of Pagliacci-in-Spandex thing.
Yes on both counts.

I like pretty much all of his solo stuff.

Also Garden - Legacys are pretty sweet amps. :thumb:

Uh oh, i accidentally joined the band? Clumsily hacking away at bar chords is a sort of type of shredding, right?

Yep.

I can't shred either. We'll learn to shred together. Like totally harmonized guitars and shit. :animal:

Stunt Guitar is still one of the best album credits ever.

Got an email from Carvin.

"Now shipping", so I looked up the price.

$499.

Yes...499.

I don't know what's more audacious, the price or the price.

Yeah, that's a reach.

Although with pedals that have toobs in them these days....they're creeping up.

I'm going to play rfurt's advocate and state that for less money you can own a badass tube preamp that does all of that and more for half the money.

(Ask me about the Peavey Tubefex. Because it is awesome.)

Call me crazy but I don't like tubes in pedals. I also think Steve Vai is every wanky guitar player ever rolled into one. There's no doubt he has talent, but I just. I just can't.Stop the solos! STOP IT!!!

I still like Vai. I don't listen to him anymore. But I still like him. Same goes for Guthrie Govan. Although, I'd rather listen to them wank than TGP's sycophant cuck worship object, David Torn. At least both Guthrie and Vai abuse their wang bars way less. Also, his bro, Rip Torn is fucking cooler by eons.
