Surprise was Line 6 M5 with midi control for switching/altering presets. It turns it into a IDM squarepusher-esque effortlessly bonkers sound machine.

The WORST:
Minifoogers - they're neat and efficient, but so vanilla?! DF-2 Was hilariously crap, Ring Thing was the weakest sounding pedal I've ever tried, oh and the Mothership! Yeesh.

Best: Either the Mini or the El Cap.

Worst: Caroline Meteore - the pre-delay thing couldn't be dialed back, and it was so loud it sounded like an actual delay pedal. The oscillation switch was so ear-piercingly loud it was unusable. The reverb itself was good, and the dirt component was fine, but altogether, not worth the price tag.

Negative gear year for me. Did one or two trades, but my only purchase was a GT-001. Everything's been sold. Down to one guitar, company and DIY effects, and an amp that needs fixing.

Hoping for a USB mixer and a Volca Keys for Christmas though

tried out tons of shit, got rid of lots of shit, ending the year with like 4 pedals

Amps/cabs. Nice bass maybe. Maaaaybe a She Fuzz. Possibly a delay pedal, but otherwise I'd rather not buy pedals for a while.

what I have done is sold all my unused stuff and only have 3 pedals on standby, BAT Ritual, Rat and Dirg Delay. The other thing I did was get a Cioks power supply and rewired my pedalboard so its perfect. For a long time I've been happy with all my gear with little gas for anything...which is probably why I haven't bought much this year.

for 2017...i have paid for half of a guitar...and the other half will be paid in jan...so I should get my Millimetric late Jan. The only other thing I want to buy is a Maximus Drone machine.

First full year on ILF is first year in a while fully unemployed... Silly combo, but though I have had marginally less money for stuff I've had more time to actually play, so it's been good. I commit to the devices I buy and have found them all useful in some way, so it's rare that I flip anything. Still trudging along my noisy path to get the things I want + can really use in a variety of ways, and that might also contribute sounds to fit and expand the band's sonic palette, yo! It's like it's all connected somehow.

Same here. I think I grabbed a Mini and a Moog Mother 32...every other change was outbound. Trying to simplify and get all the stuff I need to eecord music rather than just farting around. Pretty close, too...let's see what santa brings me.

I honestly didn't know how bad it had been this year until I started writing it down and looking through my records. Next year, I'm seriously changing the way I do shit. I've tried so much that I now know what kind of stuff I dig, so unless someone invents something new, I at least know the types of effects that I like spending money on.
