Disarm D'arcy wrote:Lol. Kinda same here. Historic French manufacturers use Spanish and Eastern European labor for pretty much everything, except design/engineering and final assembly on higher end models. I used to drive a poorly designed Renault made in Spain and nobody complained. Now I drive a a well designed Volkswagen made in Spain, and some people have given me grief for it, you know for "selling out". I don't get it, I just like my money pits to be well engineered so they are less of money pits :idk:
People give me shit because i like Toyota and I'm like... Dude Toyota has a bunch of manufacturing in America and their cars last forever. get the fuck out of here with your GM/GMC/Ford bullshit.

Living in Michigan the dick measuring via bad ass truck is so absurd.

Also, I think Americans want to be nationalistic when it comes to cars... our manufacturing just gets sent everywhere else. Everybody just believes it isn't and they're happy to but some Chevy that was made in America.
Haha man where are you? West side or Detroit (I forget)? I'm literally two miles from the plants in Flint right now...the levels of truckery are nuts. And I work in Jackson, which is straight-up redneck. I'm sure it's no better for you, anyway. I do take great delight in squeezing my tiny Honda between two massive pickups in parking lots, though.

Yes...I feel most at home in the wash of testosterone and exhaust.

Agreed. I mean sure I loved my Subaru WRX, but it wasn't very good off the pavement beyond finely graded dirt roads. Believe you me, I tried.

If you're planning on doing anything offroad, which opens up huge hiking opportunities, get a real 4WD and start playing Blaster Master IRL. :joy:

I feel obligated to point out the inherent silliness of going into debt for a new vehicle to provide you with more hiking opportunities.

By that rationale, America needs to be changed into a gigantic psychiatric ward. With Eagles for logos, of course.

I might not do it... I'm sure I can keep my old car a year or two... but resale value will be less.
