I go under fcknoise when I do solo stuff. It comfy having a name that you relate to a certain style or sound, it kinda helps me get started easier.
You have loads of good suggestions now though!
How the FUCK have I never seen your posts on here before!??? Fcknoise is the best thing I've ever seen.

Re: Solo ILFer's- what sort of name do you release under?
I was really stoned in the shower one morning when I was getting ready to release my first demos, and the Cymbals Eat Guitars song "Cold Spring" came on - there's this part where the music breaks down and Joseph sings (and when they played it live back in the day, screamed at the top of his lungs) "I am bear mountain, I am entering orbit". I realized I must've sang that line hundreds of times by that point, so I decided to become Bear Mountain. Some indietronica band already took that name tho, so I swapped some letters, and viola.
Almost two years in, I've thought about changing the name, but regaining name recognition, even on a local level, seems daunting so...

Raab Zamboni (fake jazz/real noise//sax, modular synth, editing, misc) || Field Guide (my best friends//sax on 2 tracks)
I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!

Gave up on bands a few years a go so have been doing everything myself, and having a proper "band-name" even with only member really does help develop and maintain consistency within it.D.o.S. wrote:I think having a project name also helps you stay focused on what works for that aesthetic and what doesn't.

I did a one man band folk punk kinda thing called Charlie and the Specters for a while. A little cheesy in retrospect but so was the project.

Also gonna third the Derne Hahl idea being awesome. Or just your birth name. Nerve Noise is a cool name too, but i get why it doesn't feel as special.

Haven't released any solo material, YET(working on it!), but if I play live I use the name OGNOY,
which is my last name but with an O instead of the letter Ø.

Two of my favorites, Boris and Electric Wizard, come from song names. Boris is a Melvins song, and EW is a combination of Black Sabbath's Electric Funeral and The Wizard.
I like single word/name titles. Boris is a strong sounding name, and while it carries bias now, I don't think it probably did when they first started. To that point, Darnell works well.

I went ahead and created all my pages for Derne Hahl last night- just did it. Everyone I ran it by agreed. Your feelings on it are exactly mine.
Now to get this final mix! Gonna be hard to not want to re-amp everything through my Pretty Years- gotta resist, gives me somewhere to go immediately after this.
