You mean like, what I invest emotionally in being a musician, or what I create with my shitty skills such as they are?

Both. I mean what you invest in being a musician emotionally shouldn't really be impacted by skill -- although obviously that's a personal belief of mine that doesn't always translate, since some people are good at things and I am decidedly not but solider on anyway.
