If it's a spring reverb style pedal you should call it in Surf Ace.

Here's an idea. Why don't you build in some sort of modulation option for the reverb. You know, include controls for depth and time. That'd be a great shoegaze tool.

AMP DEVELOPMENT UPDATE!

Currently building a prototype cab. I sweated it out in the garage for 3 hours doing all the carpentry.
Now it needs some tolex. I got some nice bright blue tolex which should look great (of course any color should be an option)

The cabinet for this prototype is really compact... 15 inch wide and 12 inches tall and a little over 7 inches deep. I wanted to make it a bit taller to houe a 10 inch speaker but the board i bought I realized wasn't long enough. Anyhow, it should make a nice lightweat 8" combo, for the prototype.

Ill show you some pics soon :)

I need to hear a better one like the Spring Chicken, but after listening to my friends Mr Springgy the other day, I decided I am not too fond of the belton reverb module.....

in more important news!!

lets talk amps... heres the prototype cabinet

Im pretty proud of it, however I realize a few things. I put alot of time into this... too much time, and its not perfect. Good, but not perfect. So when I eventually get aruond to production for customers I am going to try and arrange another cabinet builder to build the cabs. It wont raise or lower the cost I dont think... but if I have to build the cabs myself I wont even hve time to build the actual amp or my pedals.
The prototype cab is approx. 15" wide, 12" tall, and 7.25" deep. Its only big enough for an 8". I was hoping I could tuck a 10" in such a small cab but I cant.
I think if possible, the production model will still be pretty small, probably 15.25" x 15.25" x 8-9" that way I can stick in the 10" or maybe even a 12" speaker.
The prototype I am building will have a 6v6 output with a 10w edcor transformer... but think about this... who pays much money for a 5-8 watt amp? I mean, you can get a valve junior, champ 600, blackheart, or new vox ac4 all for great prices, under $300. The parts cost on a handmade amp is going to push close to $300 already without labor, due to economies of scale and such.
What I plan to do for production version is use a a beefier 15w output transformer and set it up with a 6l6 tube for more output. so it'd be soemwhere between 10-15w. Enough for small gigs probably.
it'll be cathode bias so you will be able to run a 6v6 still, or el34. probably do variable cathode bias so you can get optimal plate dissipationf or any particular tube.

Im using the prototype to hammer out the preamp design and build layout. I was originally going to do something silvertone esque, and still want to, but I might do something else, maybe something brownfacey. im open to opinions. im not doing anything high gain though!

Looks cool man. Go for a 12" speaker if you possibly can, that'd be my advice.

:omg:

of those options I'd get the 15 watt with a 10" or a 12"

I like the idea of being able to put just about any tube in it

lopo seems to be pretty fair priced.

I like this grill cloth:

With that royal blue, and the new mellowtone logo would be awesome on it! :animal:

Also, check this out for your faceplates:

Love the white knobs on the black face plate. But even a nice contrasty color like a yellow/green/white faceplate on the blue amp would be awesome.
Image
Don't particularly love the look of this amp, but think the custom grill cloth is cool. Maybe have the mellowtone logo screen in a pattern diagonally across the grill cloth?
Image
This logo cutout is cool too. (would be cool with the new logo)
Image
But, you could just keep it simple and do this glossy acrylic plate with the mellowtone logo (like the stickers).

Just a few ideas.

It would be awesome though to just buy a bunch of grill cloth and get some sorta pattern screened on it. I love that soursound head you posted a while back.

i dont plan on doing faceplates for the chassis because they will cost like $40 each and I dont think thats worth it. I will probablly use like cool telecaster custom or gibson bell knobs that say volume and tone on them and leave it at that for labelling of controls :)

but i plan on using amplates for the nameplates. probaly back and white plastic where the black part is raised or something. should look fun.

im thinking lopoline will be cool because it will be easy to get any color of tolex or grill you want

So would we order through you, using their options?

Hopefully they'll offer bulk pricing.

Also, what's the format of the amp, a combo? 1x10" would be the BEST!

And controls just Vol/Tone? If so that's sweet! Having a nice class A tone would be ideal.

I'm gonna be looking for a nice recording/ bedroom/ stereo amp in the future. And I know my bass player is in the market really soon for one.
