Grouper is better though.

Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill is the best sleeping album ever. It's like swimming past Deep Ones in the Sea of Nyquil until you drown without even noticing. Like... put that album on in the dark and lay down and you have the craziest fucking dreams.

Actually I don't even like Electric Wizard or most shitgaze bands, and much of the music I listen to uses little or no fuzz at all. But I still love those lil' boxes.
It's all good baby.

Ha, reminds me of the time I left a MBV show because I was bored. On the other hand, I love the records.

The first 24 seconds of Only Shallow is a game changer, I'd say.

i agree very enthusiastically with this. Loveless is a cool album, but i find the idea of it, or the possibilities it represents, far more exciting than itself a lot of the time.
My post-punk cover show band decided to stick together as a noise-pop/shoegaze band and i am pumped bc it means we can play loud, interesting music, but i am utterly disinterested in all contemporary bands in those genres. Maybe we can use weirder pedlols and get cooler, whatever. It'll be different from grindcore/crust punk/hardcore/doom metal band #47 in my life.

Every time I read over this thread title my head fails to process that it's a joke quickly enough and my heart sinks, it's too much. :barf:

I like most of Loveless and a handful of other songs. Shoegaze as I imagine it in my head is really cool but it's difficult to find bands that entertain rather than bore.

I mean don't let me take your genre-police badge off but they were definitely lumped into that group by the music press, and I think shoegaze is a genre that's definitely beholden to that distinction -- like stoner rock, the bands all sound different but it's a convenient umbrella to stick a bunch of late 80's/early 90's English guitar bands under.
