You know, i don't post a whole lot, but i do read this board all the the time. I often think "spacey is one of those guys who would be my homie" cause i often agree with him, and lots of other people get pissed about his posts. but i probably don't post often enough for anyone to think we'd be homies. but this is a subject that i feel strongly about. i grew up in the south and spent a lot of my life eating amazing fried chicken. i don't live there anymore, but i'm lucky enough to still be picky about my fried chicken. i had never had "chicken tenders" until a few years ago when i was totally wasted and went through a popeyes drive through on my bike with my also wasted roomate. we sort of accidentally ordered a bunch of chicken tenders and brought them home. what fucking bullshit! this is an assault on the concept of actual fried chicken. it is fucking disgusting dried out bullshit and it robs you of the actual experience of eating chicken. Bones are part of the deal! You killed an animal to this, to have this delicious meal. work around it. not only does the bone make the meat better, but it stands to remind you of what you're actually eating. it brings you closer to it. chicken tenders are a part of this corporate food idea that no meal should cause you any inconvenience, that everything should kind of suck but be pretty easy to put in your mouth. fuck that. i actually do eat shitty fast food here and there. as little as possible, but it happens. but you might as well try and make it as much like real food as you can. chicken tenders are total bullshit. no one who really likes fried chicken would ever accept those as real food.

you just don't get real chicken without bones! unless your talking about carving the breast meat off the carcass, which maybe that's what tenders are made of, but i kind of doubt it. all the chicken comes with bones! honestly, i kind of like the dark meat. and most of my chicken comes from cooking whole chickens at home. sauces are fine if that's your thing, but tenders from chicken places are weird dried out shit and you can't deny it.

Chicken is serious business. That's my deduction from this thread.

The tender is a narrow band of tissue across the breast that needs to be *properly* butchered by hand.
1 tender per breast (unless there's some dubious genome tinkering biz)
Chicken "fingers" are breast cut into strips to mimic the tender (less expensive, less flavor)
"French cut" breast leaves the wing attached and skin intact
Thighs are dark meat....around bone (only lazy people and rubes buy boneless thighs...like pre-sliced "fresh" mushrooms and shredded cheese with anti-caking agents)

Huge bolded your post for emphasis. Buy better chicken = cook better chicken = eat better chicken.

I guess? I don't really like eating meat. Popeyes/fried chicken is pretty delicious in an "I hate myself" kind of way, though.

Isn't that true for most fast food though? I get it because I'm hungry, but also because I hate myself and wish to be one foot closer to the grave.

Fair 'nuff. The sauces + seasonings are definitely the best part either way.
