Yeah, it's the guitar player and his wife. Something like that. Never really listened much to Shjijijpjsssudssssjojss, though.

pretty damn similar

I'm going to have spend some time making a legit list. I'm seeing a bunch of stuff in this thread that I forgot even dropped

Where is a good place to start with Godspeed?

Any of them, to be honest, but I think most people would suggest F#A# (Infinity) or Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven

It'll be interesting to see what you think, since they're so established and their 'genre' has more or less peaked and recessed.

Thanks, D.o.S., will do. It's one of those bands that I've even heard but has yet to stick.

Ripley Johnson, the guitarist, is also in Wooden Shjips, yes.

Moon Duo is worth checking out. Start with Circles or Mazes, on Sacred Bones. They sound sort of like a one trick pony on first blush, but under the surface there's variety and invention. Imagine Phil Spector meets Suicide!

Now that is a description that will make me listen, for sure. Wooden Shjips was one of those bands that I think I thought I was going to like a lot more than I did, but I haven't checked out Moon Duo yet. :thumb:

Also, that Basinki album is really good. Nice find, Nora -- as per usual.

This is the first Sufjan record that's stuck for me. Superb stuff.
Yeah it's really good

Ever hear Seven Swans? This record is very much a sequel to that one, thematically and musically, too. I think it came out in 2004. For me it would be a tossup between that one and this one, as to which is his best album

Just downloaded:

The Milk Carton Kids - Monterey
Titus Andronicus - The Most Lamentable Tragedy

Expecting both to be pretty fucking amazing based on the songs that I've heard, but let me stew on them for a couple of days and I'll get back to you...
