I don't bother selling on eBay now, whatever money I make isn't worth the time and effort anymore.
Reverb IMO for a buyer is worse. The price on Reverb are fucking awful. Like people charge whatever the fuck they want and it's always higher than eBay.

As a seller it sucks too. I'm selling shit on Reverb and those fuckers have told me 3 different times on the phone and everything that they'd share my listing. Then they don't. I'm making them money but fuck if they care. It's not a shit vintage overpriced amp I'm selling. Plus people hit you up with dumb ass offers constantly. No I don't want your shitty fucking tube screamer that's worth 200 dollars less than the pedal I'm trying to sell. Get fucked asshole. It's insulting. Like they half expect me to be a fucking idiot or something.

That and the fees, while smaller, are still bullshit. I HATE that they hit you up at the end of the month. It's the most inconvenient thing ever.

I cannot wait until my own site is up. I'm going to sell stuff strictly through there. Fuck all the others.

I've never really had a problem with prices on Reverb. It's definitely not going to be the land of golden deals like eBay can be, but honestly most people will at least reasonably listen to offers I send. Those dumb ass offers are starting to get to me though. First one I sent back said "lol." and then I got another incredibly stupid offer with which I replied "I need money, not a fucking brain."

Honestly the eBay + Paypal fee-fucking train was so bad I'll take anything else. It is bullshit they just automatically charge your card though that's fucked up.

I think a problem is the buyers have just gotten too ridiculous. Like people are going to demand a refund on a $5 Shania Twain CD because the plastic wrap was scratched and you're just sitting there wondering why you had a Shania Twain CD and if this is all life has to offer.

I haven't had many complaints about reverb. Sellers have listened and negotiated offers with me. If I get a lowball I simply say no and move on. I had listed my Verellen last month and someone offered me like $300 less than my price (which was cheaper than any other Verellen on the site at the time by at least $400-600. Declined his offer and then not even an hour later someone else bought it full asking price

one time i had a guy offer me more than my asking price. i had to do a double take. then after he paid me, he asked if he needed to send me more money for shipping and apologizing for not asking before. i declined the shipping money. i was basically speechless.

Yea, reverb has been pretty positive for me. The sellers aren't exceptional but at least they seem like normal people (or at least i can judge well enough to weed out the shitty guys). The lowball offers got annoying, but when it got annoying I just turned off "accept offers" and they stopped. Just one buyer tried to scam me but he left me alone after my message/some advice from ILF.

Reverb bump is a freaking joke. It does basically nothing. It's just an easy way for them to make $4 without doing a damn thing. I think it gave me 5 extra hits over 15 listings. I think reverb is better, I think that I am just doing selling to such a wide pool of buyers (which will always have a scumbag).

This one guy on reverb lowballed me on an item because I mentioned that the disk drive on my q80 (which was at a good price, I don't think I have ever made a profit on anything) hadn't been checked in a long time and he thought he needed to load the OS everytime. I messaged him with the manual and all the information I had about how it operates and the next day bought it full price and gave me the best review ever. It was awesome.

hahahaha. I meant my Acid Splash Designs site that's been in the works for two fucking years!

That's a thought though.........hmmm...

Would there really be interest? I could offer that as part of the site.

It would be nice to have a place that is better than the other options but I just realistically don't think it would work. I really think Reverb had good intentions to fill a need in a niche market, but people ruin it. I've had some ideas on how to somewhat fix problems, but I doubt people would like it and it wouldn't be as open to people to just "buy it now" (which would help with some buyer's remorse, maybe). Furthermore, I wouldn't tie anything to your brand name. Gotta keep em separate and even incorporate separate.

Ehhh, maybe I will do something? I can code a bit, I know this stuff and I've got friends all over the tech industry that I see almost daily (coders, marketers, developers, etc.) (and I know you have all used stuff they have made...pretty crazy when I think about it).

I won an auction for a vintage guitar last night for about $100-$200 less than they normally go for.
I paid for it this morning and then this afternoon I get a notice that the seller has cancelled
the order and sent me a refund. The reason stated for the cancellation was that the item was out of stock.
The worst part is now I have to wait 2-3 days for my bank to release the funds to PayPal and another 2-3
days for PayPal to return the funds to my bank account. Also, since he cancelled the order I can't even leave feedback.

I sent the seller a message asking why he left a already sold item up for auction and why
he didn't notify me before I made the payment? I'll see what he says but I doubt it will change anything.

I do gave his email address from the refund so I might just sign him up for every bullshit email spam list I can find. :idk:

^ Seller claims that he had the guitar packed and in his car because he was going to ship it on his lunch break.
Of course when he came out to go to lunch he found it had been stolen from his car. :whateva:

Yeah, a likely story.
Ask to see a copy of the police report. Bet you get radio silence.

I highly doubt it's true. Who would break into a car and steal a big ass box with no idea what was in it?
Also, I got the cancellation notice around 1pm EST and the seller was in California. Dude takes lunch at 10am?

Ooooohhh super sleazy- they started charging $1 for listings lasting under 5 days without any notice. Was charged $10 just this week for relisting stuff. Don't even know when they started but fuuuuuuuuckkkkkk.

I've been pretty damn good with ebay. The one that was annoying was someone listed a Sound City 120 with a road case. opening bid was like 395 or 495. No idea. It was damn cheap. I bid... no one bids and I win it. Ol dude just drops all contact basically abandons his account in order not to sell it to me. he never relisted it or anything. was just quite annoying.
