It is challenging to find someone to execute a realistic discourse on the topic of UFOs. It's easier in Europe even, cuz it seems the USA has been bombarded with the divisions regarding scientists and crackpots; but like, everyone forgets that every genius was once considered a crackpot. Reviewing all data with no preconception is how it should be, that's science, that's honest investigation. If you accept that none of us can be sure until they finally show up - as a starting point for discourse, I don't really see why any discussion of the sort should be ridiculed.
If taking it from a psychological viewpoint, I'd say the current mass-opinion of the people is somewhere between fear of the unknown, fear from being labeled as a crackpot/unscientific for discussing such subjects, and fear of "they will kill us when they come so better forget about the whole thing".
Don't think we can move to the point of a planetary civilization/society if we don't start acting like one. And talking about aliens and the possibility of them being here, even walking among us, shouldn't be tabu. Talking about the possibility of a 3some is ok, but aliens?, pfff, come on

I always figured the aliens were already here and earth was the dumping ground for the "special needs" aliens or they came and tried a failed genetic experiment and took off. they know we are here and they know there is nothing here that they want.

Crop circles are pretty interesting. The old claim that it was two guys with boards on some rope doesn't hold up next to the mathematically complex formations that are out there.

I like the old African tribe stories like, the Dogons, fish people and the 'prediction' of Sirius C. (think everyone knows that one)
And there's one where, (at that time the Earth was allegedly covered in deep mist and clouds) "the sky people" brought a companion to Earth, a great flood ensued, and after that the weather started looking more like today and they could see the stars. Which is interesting since the Moon has gravitational anomalies, and is at a precise distance to cover the Sun for a Solar eclipse (well, not anymore tho, it's drifting further slowly).
Crop circles.. I'd say it's more then just UFO phenomena, but this one is pretty much to the point

The answer to Arecibo.

Dunno about crop circles. Why would you automatically think that aliens did it? Why not some earthly phenomena. Yeah, the answer to Arecibo is intriguing I guess, but why the hell would the aliens write in our corn fields instead of communicating directly with us?
I do believe that there's a good chance that there's aliens somewhere out there, though chances for life in our universe are slim. But I've yet to see reliable evidence that they have actually been here. As for why alot of the UFO-peeps are labelled as crackpots, well, it's simply because most UFO-stories seem illogical. Feel free to post links with evidence proving my sceptisism wrong, though.

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." - Arthur C. Clarke - for the illogics part
And ye I think there's far more to crop circles then just aliens. Collective consciousness even:

It's like, we don't really act like we understand quantum reality, and live life like this world is minecraft-basic, so idk how to even approach ETs or how they would live life, other then to do meditation and similar disciplines. (they obviously must understand how quantum reality works or they wouldn't be able to come here in a span of 50 years, i.e. since we've become noisy.)

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Yes, exactly, although not to use this song in this thread is criminal so here it is.

A couple things. How can she know it was the size of a football field? Where's the size reference against a black sky? And it doesn't look like it took up a large area in the field of view to be able to tell that from perspective either. The camera's way zoomed in.
Blimp, maybe. Why not consider the most likely, rather than the improbable.
