This thread is making me break out my DC this afternoon. I haven't touched it in a hot minute.

Also, Vid, I've got a Deses Parva I could fire your way for way less than the Maximal Drone if you're just looking to get into it. I'm also quite happy to keep it, too, of course, just figured I'd offer.
waayy too kind man, but I just ordered the maximal! :) thanks a ton though
No worries dude. But seriously -- sample that shit, throw the Time Stretch on it. Enjoy.

The Maximal Drone looks rad, I've been doing my drone stuff with a microbrute and some pedals, but I'm thinking I might have to pick one of those up. It'd be cool to have a drone playing in the background that I can play over.

mode 3, sample some feedback/anything - there ya go, 3 "oscillators" ;)
yas. i was tempted to mention that from the get go, but ct5 is def not strictly drone.

But its fucking dope for drone synths :thumb: mode three, swelling drones into it and changing the pitch is super fun.

What pedals are you guys using to drone besides the CT5? What delays/reverbs seem to work best? I'd assume something with tap tempo?

to make drones? i've started to use superego with kaoss pad 3 on the loop. ditto x2 is a fun tool as well, but ct5 kinda performs better with drones.

I barely use tap tempo and dont find reverb as cool as delay. Delay has more tweaking and texture abilities than most reverbs.

Kp3 in superego loop sounds

Agreed. I really like the Gristlizer and the Denormalizer in conjunction with 'verb and a drone source.

King Capital Punishment/Skychord all the way... Sleepdrone 5 is great cause it's got separate outs plus the main so they can all go through different effects... Noisefx.com is cool to browse, Audible Disease makes cool stuff for noise...

KP3 is a Drone Machine for sure...

Industrialectric RM-1n. Built-in drone/osc thing, footswitchable infinite reverb, pre/post reverb dirt. Love.

DFX/PDS/RDS delays are the shiz also.

And anything that's full stereo that you can abuse in non-stereo signal paths - making feedback loops, running in series instead of parallel, running at 2 places in your chain, etc. Cathedral is my huckleberry for this, but anything discreet stereo should do - hazarai, DD-20, Alesis modfx & Ineko table top style boxes, old school rackmount shit, whathaveyou.

I've always wondered if you could run a stereo pedal in two spots in a chain... Holy shit this just opened my eyes so much.

There's limitations, and it helps IMO/E to buy/build individual TB loops for each side/channel, but yeah. Done it can be.

Ear 4096 delay does droning with a stereo output.
Cadavernous reverb has a momentary footswitch that can be used to bring in the drone/noise.

I've been looking into that EAR forever. I should clarify that I meant work best with synths/drone boxes as opposed to drone by themselves. That said, I think I'm set on a RM-1n and an Echo Degrader. Currently I'm using an Ibanez ES2 that's actually really awesome, but I want it back on my big board.
