She was just interviewed by Terry Gross of NPR. About half way through the interview I realized that I do not want to see her show.

This whole thing is just how the world is turning, except it, at some point things being lame became cool.There are all sorts of things you can blame like the Brady Bunch, the 80's, Rush Limbaugh/Al Sharpton, Will Ferrell/Jim Carrey or the fact that kanye west is still not homeless and having to use his body to pay for crack, but it doesn't matter, more and more of these lame "people" will get famous and people will continue to give them money.

I have a starter theory that her "Lena Dunham" persona is a more-elaborate-than-bearded-Joaquin-Phoenix trolling expedition. I like her TV show quite a bit but everything I have ever read about the way she conducts her life otherwise makes her sound completely insufferable and with a total absence of redeeming qualities. My theory could reconcile these two poles. Or she could be an a-hole who makes good art--that sorta thing has been known to occur.

I think this trend for not paying people and getting them to do things "for the exposure/experience" (think internships, this rubbish etc) is disgraceful.

I know people talk shit on Amanda Palmer, but when I saw the Dresden Dolls, she put on an amazing performance. Probably one of the coolest shows I've been too.

I love the Dresden Dolls, but that was when she was still hungry and young.

Now she is well off, married rich, singing shitty songs with a god damn ukelele. She talks about not needing record companies and how the internet will support you, but she was already moderately popular when she used kickstarter and bandcamp to make a MILLION dollars. A million dollars, but couldn't pay her musicians. Fuck that.

I totally forgot about that whole Kickstarter mess. That sucks. I wanted to remember her for the way I thought she was.
