Almost caved and financed a Sub 37 but that would have been a bit irrational. I got a midi keyboard for my iPad/Animoog so I'm going to make some drones this weekend.

Nora: the modulation can be a bit tricky for a couple of reasons. This thread I found over on the Moog forums helped me a lot in figuring stuff out:

Untelated, but the Moog forum seems to be host to quite a few weenies. I love how ILF spoils me.
Thanks for the link. It should prove useful. Do you have experience with synthesis? It seems like you are coming up with some neat stuff.

I love it dude -- it sounds amazing, and I've been getting the pulses/"measures" down to where I want by 'Madlibbing' it with my SP-303. So rad. Just picked up a Deses Parva for the more 'straightforward' oscillations, but so far I've been able to avoid collapsing into straight synth worship.

Nice! I had actually paired it with a Deses Parva too at one point. Had a mixer with the DC, Parva and Weird Sounds Generator all going at once into my pedalboard. That setup makes me question why I decided to pursue more conventional forms of music

I want to get more drone boxes and a mixer for that very reason, but I can't seem to pull the trigger. Maybe someday...

I don't have a lot of experience, but some. I had a microKorg like 5 years ago but didn't know anything and never figured out how to edit it properly so I flipped it.
I started learning more about synths from our fellow forumite Dr. Sherm, ILF, and the internet which is where most of my knowledge comes from. I lurked hard on modular threads and what not to learn more. I had a MiniBrute briefly and dug it but realized monosynths weren't for me, but I was still intrigued. Some other gear has come and gone but the Sub 37 is my first "major synth purchase."

I saw there were some Updates via a NAMM 2015 video; are they out yet and have you updated your Sub 37?
I'm looking into getting one. Everytime I go to Guitar Center, I sit down at the 37 they have there and play for at least 10 minutes with it, lots of fun.
I thought about getting the Sub Phatty but I like that the 37 is duo phonic, but I'm wondering if there is too much sub-menu stuff to deal with. I can always learn but I like when the majority of the features are there on the panel and I don't have to do a lot of menu diving.

a lot of reasons that weren't really due to the synth and more about finding what kind of gear I like and will use. Its a fucking rad synth though.

The first thing he goes over in the video should fix my issue I had assigning modulation destinations that I was whining about earlier. This new way is flipppin sweet.

Nora, that seems way more intuitive than the previous way, for sure.
