I watched a demo of the mono/poly and as soon as it got to the the arpeggio section I was like "yup, that's totally Archy"Dr. Sherman Sticks M.D. wrote:i would totally get a Korg Mono/Poly. is my dream synth

Ok. DSI Mono Evolver Keyboard PE. I like how it sounds. Any opinions on it?

Solid choice. I've been thinking about desktop version for a while now.

This just in... I'm a fucking idiot. I used a greater than symbol in the title instead of a less than. Yeah... I've got about $1000 to work with here. Sorry

Seriously, do some google searches about bugs in the OS. I never owned any Evolvers but the Tetra had a few annoying bugs and theTempest has a horribly incomplete OS, it has midi issues and Dave Smith helped invent midi!
Check out the Elektron Analog 4, you can score a used one for less than thousand, would need midi keys but is a FUN synth plus if you are getting into Euro, it has a CV sequencer.

After I posted this last night I ran across the "Evolver issues FAQ" section on DSI's website. That's too bad.Deltaphoenix wrote:Seriously, do some google searches about bugs in the OS. yea i agree. the half-assed nature is a downer. the synth engines themselves sound pretty wonderful tho

I think Adrian Utley sold me on the Arturia Minibrute as a first synth. Is the SE version worth it? I like the 1-knob per function about it. Wish it had another octave though.

Re: UPDATE - Minibrute question..... Looking at <$1000 synt
The minibrute sounds and feels really dope, and has some cool functionality, but the lack of multiple oscillators and presets killed it for me. If you're cool with pure monophonic stuff for bass and are cool with those overlaid preset sheets, go for it. You can probably get one on ebay for cheap.

Re: UPDATE - Minibrute question..... Looking at <$1000 synt
The minibrute is awesome. I have not regretted purchasing mine, as a "mess around" kind of synth, I'm not some guy with a lot of other synths....
I'd like a sequencer though, I wish the analog ones weren't more expensive than the synth itself.....

The MicroBrute has a sequencer instead of an arpeggiator and the SE edition Minibrute will have the sequencer as well.

Re: UPDATE - Minibrute question..... Looking at <$1000 synt
I use Minibrute with Korg EMX, so I'm cool with no onboard sequencer. Arpeggiator is a hell lot of fun though.
