Probably, if only for the bulletproof tanknitude.
I feel like they release 15-20 pedals a year. For every Freeze, there's a Steel Leather and a Bass Blogger.

I had an all Boss/Roland rig through much of the 90s, powering a string of Bassman etc heads. If it was Fender and 6L6, I did not say no.
Never broke, never missed a beat.
I sounded like me.
One guy in the band the only EHX pedal he kept running with any regularity was an original Microsynth and that's because he was an EE by trade and could rip it apart as it blew something else.

I forget where it is, but our resident Authentic Death Metal Swede (goroth) wrote a really awesome bit about how, on paper, Boss is so staggeringly amazing compared to almost every other pedal company.
But EHX made the big muff. So my beanie tilts toward EHX.

I am not a Muff guy, I guess I just prefer the transistory cock of rackmounts and the Blender/Scrambler.

Seriously though, the more I play live, and the more I get into older Boss effects, the more I realize how awesome they are. Like, can't really break them, and honestly, a lot of them (at least, the handful I've tried) sound reaally great. Now, I hate a DS-1 as much as the next guy, but there's a reason people pay silly money for DM-2s.

Haha you read that post? It's true, I love boss for what they've done for the world of effects.
And I hate ehx for all the potential awesomeness they so regularly poo on.

They're chasing what they think their target market wants, and these days it's 'overdrive' with 'true bypass' - it used to be weird synth effects when new-wave was in, then fuzz pedals during grunge, wacky post-rock stuff to cop the Radiohead vibe, etc.
Trend-chasers, always.

I have two, to be fair. The venerable Frequency Analyzer, from when it was the only game in town, and the Bassballs, same scenario (since I did not enjoy the DOD envelope filter at all).
And they were radically, radically overpriced then but this was before the days of 'order anything from the world sitting at your desk.'
Now, well...I'll get genuine weird from genuine weird solutions and stick with solid, "know it'll work tomorrow" stuff for everything normal.

Boss should just buy ehx. Although i worry that would actually reduce the quality of boss pedals.
I usually dont like corporate buyouts and that sort of stuff but ehx has turned into a poop parade.
A parade
of poop
Like they did good stuff back in the day, but i wasn't alive in that day so yeah. And i love boss, they brought pedals to the people.

I love my boss GT-10. It's like, EVERY BOSS PEDAL EVER, and infinitely tweakable. And it has an effects loop for anything that sounds better than what it has on board. (all my dirt) I only wish the looper on it went a bit longer. It works great, but I think it's only 40 seconds.
Love Boss.
