Les Rallizes Denudes
Mars Studio 1980
4 cd boxset
I've been checking this out. Sounds nice. Definitely on the list if not now, at some point. Added to my Amazon wish list.
Any thoughts on the other boxset they have Great White Wonder? Are you familiar with that one?
Yeah, I've got the great white wonder on lp and on cd. both are great sonically. the latest pressing/release was a limited run, somehow i got 0002/1000 on the lp box set. i think 325/1000 on the cd boxset.
also check their album Heavier than a death in the family. its another great recording. thing is, aside from the mars studio, all of their output is bootlegs from live shows. so there is alot out there but you have to search pretty hard. what's easy to find is a great introduction to them.
You might also want to check out Keiji Haino, he has an impressive catalog of solo albums, almost matched by his output of collaborations with the top experimental/avant/noise musicians from over the years. im sure you've seen my posting him and his projects all the time in the listening thread, he's a genius in his own right...and was influenced by Takashi Mizutani of les rallizes.
Fushitsusha was Haino's band, formed in the late 70s and they are still going strong putting out 2 albums last year. everything they have done is worth looking into.
If you do get interested in Haino, just jump in anywhere. same thing with fushitsusha.
ok.

^ If I buy these cd's am I supporting terrorism?
"In 1970, the original bass player Moriaki Wakabayashi assisted in the hijacking of Japan Airlines Flight 351 orchestrated by the Japanese Red Army. Wakabayashi has been living in North Korea since the hijacking. Singer and lead guitarist Takashi Mizutani was allegedly offered a role in the hijacking, but turned it down. After the this event, however, a paranoid Mizutani kept a low profile due to his ties with the Red Army."

there is def some mystery surrounding the band. pretty serious business, maybe student activists? maybe some sort of cult that lived isolated?...think i made that up. kick ass noise/feedback music regardless. even their acoustic albums i've heard...maybe just one...is amazing.

Great album. What was that song that David Bowie did that ripped off the end of the title track? I think it came out in the 90's. I forget....Anybody?

Alcest - Les Voyages de L'Ame
I avoided it for ages due to the intolerable hype around the band but that was just stupid. One of the greatest albums of recent years for sure.
