Still dealing with the shock of going from a boring-ass small town to living in a super hip side of town. There's a cool little dive right across the street from my new place that has bands play and open mics on monday nights. Also, a million other bars and restaurants within walking distance.
But here's some cool stuff about the city in general. Highest arts funding per capita for a major city.
ART:
Plus tons of little galleries
MUSIC:

The Summerfest grounds

The Borg Ward AKA home to the very first ILFest!
North Ave. Bayview, Riverwest are all other great areas full of a variety of venues. And of course the major ones downtown (the Turner, Pabst, The Rave, etc.)
FESTIVALS:
Seriously, just so fucking many. All the time.
BASEBALL:

Look at that beastie, rising like the mighty Tarkus over the southwest suburbs
and oh yeah BEEEEEERRRRR
Milwaukee is actually pretty fucking great. Although public transportations sucks is the one downside. And segregation/socie-economic disparities in some parts of the city.

Born and raised in Alphabet City, NYC.
NYC is incredibly expensive. There's always shit to do (if you have money) there's hardly anywhere you can't get in an hour our less with public transportation. Food is amazing. The diversity is amazing.
90% of NYC is 20-something yuppies from Bumblefuck, America. Sorry to sound spiteful but being one of the few born and raised New Yorkers in such a transient city really gets to you.
I wouldn't move here long term. I think living here for a few years should be obligatory though. The diversity is going down less and less. Every neighborhood now is rapidly 'gentrifying' and its just a competition of which hood has the hippest 'I live in a poorer neighborhood than you' vibe (Until prices go up, that is...). Watched it happen to my neighborhood. Went from hispanic families and cheap albeit amazing food to fuckin 20 dollar a plate tapas and high-end bars on every block. Give it a decade and all of nyc will be that, I assure you.

Stargate city/drunk city/vansterdam
Also known as Vancouver bc. Really nice natural beauty, and the city is nice. There are trails everywhere. It rains 250 days a year, which i like. But unless i move to another city I'll never be able to move out of my parents house. Even the damn slum is expensive. Gentrification has been mentioned before, but we occasionally have protests against it because the city council is pretty much all property developers. The music scene is alright. Lots of generic stereotype hipsters but only a few good venues. The problem is that everything is fucking expensive, so must musicians can't afford to live here so we only get big bands. Not that there aren't small bands, just less. And not allot of places for them to play. Actually its alright. Could be allot worse.
Tldr you need money to live here, so i can't do anything but study and play music.
