usually what i do is find something that i want
i put it on my watch list but don't really look at it at all
when i get the notification that the auction is going to end i set an alarm or a timer or something.
in that time or before, i do research to see what they go for on average. if the average median is a good price and something i'm willing to pay then i'll usually max my bid there.
it's possible to get good deals but that won't happen every time.
if you're holding out for the 40$ small stone it just might take some time.
the only time i use buy it now is if it is on something that is competitively priced and doesn't often make it to the bay.

when there is something like that with a constant supply of them, you have to balance up between paying a little more and winning the bid, or wasting lots and lots of time trying to save $5 or whatever
i would say just pick a few that are in perfect condition, boxed etc, and raise your upper bid a bit more
(i didnt really like those small stones, and they distorted a bit with clean sound, but it may just have been my setup)

Congrats on the SS, I have a few of those and love 'em.
It used to be with paypal you had 30 days to file a claim...not sure if this is still the rule. I don't do nearly as much ebay-ing as I used to. Sellers aren't always great about indicating to ebay that an item has shipped tho.
Some sage advice in this thread too, wish I had known lots of these strategies long ago

One of the BEST things about deciding on your highest bid beforehand and not bidding until the end--many times it's already way past what I would bid, and so I quietly smirk to myself and wait for the next one.
I've seen many times idiots bidding up to the new retail price on something used...the competition really gets the better of some people, and playing that game just gets you frustrated and/or overpaying for stuff.

Ry, the "normal" handling time is 3 business days from when the payment clears (which can take up to a week), so you'll be fine.
For reference, I'm slow as shit shipping stuff and usually only get to the PO on Thursdays.

What pisses me off is when a seller lists expedited shipping(usps priority) and the package takes over a week to arrive from date of shipping. I usually use priority mail and it never takes more than 3 fucking days
Another thing that really grates my nerves is when a seller does not mention "no power supply." I'm good with no manual(pdf download is fine). I won an MF-108 and the seller described it as like new condition. There was no psu in the pic, but they could have mentioned that in the notes. Especially if its in like new condition, WTF!

You usually have to buy the psu separate when you buy it new. Also you should just get a Godlyke adaptor and daisy chain and never worry about it again.

Moogerfoogers
always come with a psu, well atleast in the US. I have a onespot and reverse polarity adapter. But it might be an issue if I ever try to sell it.
