as long as a movie's not boring. there's just no excuse for that.
that's why i don't like LotR. that shit bores my butthole closed.
Dude YOU MUST WATCH THE SEVENTH SEAL!

I'd say behndy's not gonna like anything filmed before 1992.

Behndy, I'm going to put your tastes to the test. Watch The Room if you never have. Imagine a movie that inspires all of the horror B-film "why?" feelings except it's a straight up drama with no special effects whatsoever. That movie has made crappy-but-entertaining horror movies seem crappy in every approach. Tom Wiseau simply uses the most basic elements of film (plot, character, dialogue, story focus, b-role, diction, realistic physical action like throwing a football, sound synchronization, etc.) far more terribly than you could ever imagine possible. And not a single trace of "special effects" or otherwise other-wordly elements.

Ghost in the shell > Matrix
Ralph Bakshi > Peter Jackson

I. WILL. FELATE. YOU. RIGHT. NOW.
Ralph Bakshi did not fuck up the whole ent thing, Peter did. he turned the whole thing into

Oh, I actually forget that Bakshi did his version of LOTR. That's always just come off as a forgivable and forgettable cash-grab. And Cool World was a project that got raped by Hollywood(I've actually avoided watching it because I know I'll be disappointed).
But really Fritz the Cat, Heavy Traffic, Coosnskin are some of my favorite films of all time. Wizards is an absolutely brilliant and unique fantasy film that's worth the viewing and the blunt you should smoke before. Fire and Ice isn't quite up alley, but it is probably the most visually stunning and beautiful animated films I've ever seen in my life.

Anything that Tim Burton touches....cept maybe Beetlejuice and scissorhandjob.
Castaway. Shit was lame. which is weird, because I have a hardon for wilderness survival shit. Jeremiah Johnson is a better film of this genre IMO. PLUS INDIGENOUS BITCHES
Also
FUCKYEAH WIZARDS RALPH BAKSHI = GOD. Though the latter half of the film feels rushed, but I assume that isn't Bakshi's fault

The Room was gawd awful. but yeah. it had some fun in it. it's just painful to watch Seurifhaizuu guy "acting". and his floppity white ass. YOU'RE TEARING US APART LISA.
lol. i don't love older movies just because they're old, but there are some awesome movies from before i was a kicken. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Clockwork Orange, Terminator, Jacob's Ladder, Goodfellas, Evil Deads, House On The Left, Watership Down....
STUFF.

^ oh yeah it's gawd awful, but more awful than anything you've ever seen. And there's practically an entire realm of film dedicated to being awful while trying sooooooo much harder to do so. The Room is just so much worse with so much more simplicity.
RR Bigman wrote:FUCKYEAH WIZARDS RALPH BAKSHI = GOD. Though the latter half of the film feels rushed, but I assume that isn't Bakshi's fault
That's the sort of movie where any possible poor decision is so gung-ho and texturally justified that it just seems ballsy rather than poor IMO. But the blunt also helps.

Napoleon Dynamite. It's watchable ONCE. I have no idea why that became everybody's favorite film when it was released.

Rent. The music in that film is dreadful, especially in a roomful of people singing it. Ugh.

I hate that shit. My ex loved it. I was like 'So... the protagonists are like... criminals, right? Like one of them admitted to killing someone's dog for money... They're like terrible people...' I really just don't get it.

Prior to seeing Borat, everyone told me it was great!
Borat was not great.
Neither was The Hangover.
STOP TELLING ME MOVIES ARE FUNNY WHEN THEY AREN'T.

i didn't really like Nappy Dynamo even the first time i saw it. too denigrating to awkward white people. BLACK Dynamite on the other hand, is fucking AWESOME.
2001 is not good. i do not get all the acclaim.
Borat and Hangover were funny once. i kinda liked Hangover 2 better than. 3 was crap.
i don't really like comedies more than once though usually. stuff like Shaun Of The Dead? YESH PLEASE. funny but more than just giggle spots.
ugh. i'm disappointed with how bad "horror" movies are now. not all of them, but so many are shaky cam blegh with a few jump scares, or boring characters you don't care about and no sense of foreboding and NOTHING but jump scares. that shit isn't scary. it's STARTLING. last time just a jump scare was effective was Large Marge in Pee Wee's Bitch Better Gimme Back My Bike Adventure.

Anyway, ten years ago Fight Club would've been a perfect nomination. Most Nolan Films fall into this category, with the possible exception of Following... which I fell asleep watching, so I can't really say one way or the other.
Also, dub, you can not like Taxi Driver, but it's hard to say the film is overrated.
Thirdly, jesus fuck you guys can't really all hate space odyssey, can you?
Fourthly, I'm not sure if anyone likes Baz Luhrmann movies, but if one person does, they're overrated by definition.

behndy, in all seriousness, someone needs to strap you down and go all "good movie" Robot Chicken on your ass.
