As someone who works in fast food, we really don't give a shit. It's a good day when we don't fuck up a whole lot in the drive through.

I can't even tell you how many times I've given someone a coffee or drink that wasn't their's only to realize later and say (sometimes aloud) "Ah, fuck it. Close enough."

that sucks. i'm always very appreciative of people who're stuck working in that industry who are appropriately friendly (as in friendly but not annoying) and do a good job of it.

I work drive through and always try to be friendly and talkative. There hits a point, though, where "Close enough." is the best you can really ask for.

Most people are trying to get in/out of a drive through as soon as they can. Being hit with 200 people in an hour all of whom are rushing you really wears you down after a while, especially when you're trying to get other people who are equally swamped to get everything to you in the right order. It's hectic anytime there's a line.

Like, I know that whatever bullshit is going on over here has nothing to do with the person at the window, so I try to make it not terrible for them, but, shit happens and it's hard to get orders together in time. At a certain point "Fuck it" happens because the manager is trying to keep drive through moving as quickly as possible and you have to sacrifice quality for speed.

But maybe I just work in a weird place for that. Is Dunkin Donuts even fast food to most people?

yeah, that's very understandable. & pretty much why when she handed me the 2nd mountain dew i just accepted it & didn't bitch or anything.

what sucks is the "don't give a shit" part.

In Vegas it's generally not bad in most areas.

The In N' Out on the strip is the one exception. jesus fucking christ I can't believe how many people go there at 2:00 pm on a tuesday.
