Kickstarter is a great thing if you know what you're doing. Way easier than trying to solicit private investors one-by-one.

My gut reaction was: two awesome things put together, this looks awesome (like 3d printed pizza... or atari+guitar pedals in this case).

But then after you actually think about it, you realize it's a terrible idea (3d printed pizza again...and this console thing)

Well from a builder's perspective a huge portion of the time spent making a pedal is wiring up the box and the hardware also coats much more than the parts on the board so I'd love to put stuff out for this considering how much easier it would be to make stuff. Higher volume lower prices and less overhead.

I'm no builder but I understood it that way as well.

No offense, but I still don't believe people have fallen for her crap again and again.

I mean really... First time shame on you. Second time, shame on me.

I won't totally discount Devi and the impact she has had on the fuzz world. She is probably one of the reasons why so many "fuzz" companies exist and pedals are offered at such affordable prices. No one else (that I can think of) has undercut the market that bad and still run successfully as a company. So, not totally knocking her.

I'm still holding out hope that I'll eventually get mine. I still think it's a cool idea.

THANK YOU GOOD SIR!

Taking one for the team.

Especially when bands use it.

UNGGGGGGGGGGHFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF THIS

This band I know started a kickstarter asking for $6000 to go on a tour around TEXAS. JUST TEXAS. THEY LIVE IN ARLINGTON TEXAS. THREE OF THE DATES LISTED ARE IN THE DFW AREA. THEIR LONGEST DRIVE IS LESS THAN FIVE HOURS. ALSO DID I MENTION IT'S NOT CONCURRENT DATES, BUT A SERIES OF WEEKEND TOURS? SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS. ALSO KICKSTARTER IS FOR CREATING A PRODUCT. THIS IS SERIOUSLY NOT EVEN WITHIN TERMS OF USE FOR THIS SHIT.

But also, :snax: on :snax: :snax: on :snax: :snax: on :snax: :snax: on :snax: :snax: on :snax: :snax: on :snax: :snax: on :snax:

Not to sound like some oldtimer, but I remember back in O' Ten, when I placed a pre-order for a Console...good times. Well, when I got that refund and bought a Rat Tail. But yeah. Snax.

Hey, Octophant Kickstarter worked. Took us a bit of time to get the stuff out since I didn't anticipate having to build like 50 or whatever out of the 130 (phew, what a challenge doing that after a fulltime job :(), but it all got to everyone.

I do think it works well if you have a tangible product that's already designed and you just need cash up front to fabricate/buy a lot of parts at once. Like, if I were going to, say, design a new type of enclosure or hardware for use on pedals I might consider it. Or for something like a forum pedal, sure, but I'd more strictly adhere to my stated personal build commitment (was initially going to be 15-20) and make it a simpler pedal if I had to do it again.

Then again since the HCFX community is now in diaspora it'd more likely be an ILF community build if anything.

Where kickstarter seems to be a harder sell is if you're funding, say, a movie or album or trying to get distribution (although with distribution it's actually not so bad since you already have a product that just needs to be fabricated, basically).
