lol. so. my drummer went and saw Spring Breakers which i and my lil brother, who has VERY little tolerance for "odd" movies, ADORED. and my drummer fucking HATED IT. so. maybe?
I DON'T EVEN KNOW ANY MORE.
Martyrs and Excision are the most fun i've had with horror movies lately i think. and Cabin In The Woods. and Dead Girl was cute.
murrrrrr?

I thought the new evil dead was pretty awesome, but agree it does not fit in the same universe of the other evil dead films. It was the goriest movie I think i've seen and the lack of (bad) cgi was refreshing.

I should mention that pretty much every scene involving any of the character's "back stories" we're pretty awful. The actors were really not very good but I don't watch horror movies for the back story or acting.. I kinda just like cheesey gore and that kinda stuff so for me it was a fun movie

f'reals. i'mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mostly bummed about the potential. those actors were AWFUL. the first 20 minutes or so of setup is just.... guh. like watching a high school play bad acting.
i dug some of the visuals and there was obviously some love put into it. i just don't think it needed to be connected to Evil Dead at all. with a bit better writing and better acting and making me care about ANY character at ALL..... it could have been awesome.
like...... 4/10 for silly horror movies?

I saw it Saturday and I feel like it's a worthy addition to the evil dead series. Especially considering that Evil Dead II is basically a remake of the first. I was really hoping for another time-portal ending, though...
It felt like they were trying to get us to care about the characters without removing all the hilariously over the top gore. So all the character developement felt shallow and boring, while the gore was excellent. I definitely haven't seen a bloodier movie that's for sure. Make sure you see it with friends who find super gorey stuff funny.
And I agree CABIN IN THE WOODS IS PERFECT!
