at the risk of diverting into a topic of how much a hate fighter pilots, and as a corollary, how i desperately want to be one, i know exactly how your pop felt. i have a friend who's a crew chief on vipers like me (different base) who had a jet that he worked on (not that flight) go down, and the dude, who he knew well, not get out. it def made me take the extra look at all the work i've done of late.

Yeah, it's definitely a big responsibility doing maintenance on machinery that people trust their lives on not to fail.
