Well.... Troy was a guitarist in both bands...Billy Howerdell was Tool's guitar tech when Failure were opening for Tool. it's not like people pulled the correlation out of their asses

Well yeah, but in the terms of songwriting, it doesn't really connect in my head
maybe you're right though, maybe i'm just not hearing it.

i eat the dicks then. no hate, just never really got Tool.
but i understand about half those jokes in the OP from my drummer being a Tool love love guy. FUNNY.
i saw Volto one time at that tiny place in LA. not my thing but OOF. some mad skeelz up in thar.

I think it's pretty reasonable to like one of them and not the others. I mean, they're all so different from one another. I don't think there's a whole hell of a lot of overlap in the music styles (other than them all having the same singer).
