goroth wrote:Sierra Nevada makes a good "more drinking less thinking" IPA. Then they have the torpedo, which is just a really well balanced, hoppy IPA. I like.

Since advancing my palate to less "pisswater" tastes, tornado has become my new standard.
Regarding OP's original question; My fav iPhone app? Soundprism is fucking awesome. I've honestly used my big toe while holding it steady on the floor with my other foot to play it while playing guitar.

My favorite West Coast IPA is probably Stone's Enjoy By series (only had the 12.21.12, but I thought it put Pliny in a gimp mask and gave it a lashing). East Coast style goes to St. Arnold's Elissa, which is from Houston - it's like Dogfish Head 90m (which is also a great beer), but even cleaner tasting.
IPAs have never traditionally been my favorite style of beer, but I've definitely learned to love them over the last few years.
As far as iPad apps...GarageBand and grab Electribe when it goes on sale. DM-1 was just free, but even at $5 or $6 it's well worth it.

A thousand times this. The best beer I've ever tasted. It's like, 18% alcohol, too. Mmph.
Sorry for not helping you, OP

I had this when they first started making it and it was 21%. I don't know why they lowered it. So good.

We don't seem to get as many IPAs here compared to you guys, just the larger companies from US and i've tried everything dozens of times
Personally, at the moment I'm really enjoying from NZ

It's the right balance and how an IPA should taste.

Mountain Goat, from Melbourne, makes a decent IPA.

Favorite IPAs... Southern Tier Oaked Unearthly and Noble Nobility, both almost impossible to find here. Not that I have anything close to a shortage of top freaking notch beer at my disposal.

It's so awesome that I opened this thread, read the OP and went "awww, I was hoping we were going to talk about beer"

That's what it turned into lol.
@OP, start a new thread that doesn't say "IPA" it stands for India pale ale. I got a few obscure iPhone apps I love.

As far as IPA's go, my personal favorite is The Alchemist's Heady Topper.

Sierra Nevada is probably my favorite "buy it anywhere" IPA, though.

Personally, I'm more of a fan of English-style IPAs, as the American ones all taste like chewing on a freaking hop pellet. Fullers makes a nice one, Meantime is good, and Berkshire and Goose Island are really the only American breweries that have captured the style without going over-the-top.

Ninkase Total Domination is a favorite.
Deschutes Inversion IPA two.
Sierra Nevada three.

I went to school at UVM and I miss this beer so much. What a good one.
I think the best IPA I have ever had is Hill Farmstead Abner (need to try the Ephraim still). Just overwhelming, delicious hops.
Right now I'm drinking Yazoo's Hop Project IPA, which is a pretty awesome local brew here...

the breckenridge 471 and the six point resin are two of my faves. I have been drinking rye ipa's lately too. good stuff.
I finally tried the diesel from six point tonight. its a black ipa and it doesnt taste like soy sauce as many blipa's do.
