Though...Townshend has had some pretty damned sick fuzz moments.dubkitty wrote:the first fuzz i noticed was probably "Satisfaction" or more likely the early adopters at Motown, who had a charmingly King Tubby-esque "let's throw everything in the studio at it and see how it works" aesthetic in the days before Diana blew up. the first fuzz i wanted to emulate was Disraeli Gears and Axis: Bold As Love. much of my aesthetic over the years came from people who used huge amps cranked for distortion if they used anything more than raggedy amp OD at all--Jerry Garcia, Stills and Young, Pete Townshend, Richard Thompson, The Edge--so my fuzz obsession really began with Hüsker Dü and MBV.

some great choices so far! for me the i guess the first fuzz would be jimi hendrix on the band of gypsys record. I didn't know it was fuzz at the time but I loved it. I especially loved the bass grove!

Gentlemen, I wholeheartedly agree. I needed to get my guitar to sound like that. That's when I realized what guitar effects could help me do.fungalattack wrote: The first song that made me say wooooaaah how do I get that toan was the stooges.
