after i left Colorado i was kind of wack, knowing that the trip was going to be over and worrying about what would become of me. i wound up driving through most of the night from CO into KS and from east KS through most of Missouri. driving into MO i became obsessed with trying to get pictures of the moon, which was just past full.

Lake Shore Drive, North Side of Chicago:

Lake Michigan, approximately 5100 N. this is the end of a circle that began in 1979 when my first wife and i, who lived in an apartment a few hundred yards from this spot, decided to leave Chicago...back then i used to walk the short distance across the park and under Lake Shore Drive to this spot and variously party, contemplate, and/or watch the waves shimmer in the moonlight.
