What am I doing.
I'm making a Kenshiro. I mean, a monk.

That's what I used in the beta. You get a teleport attack at level 6 or something. Ken would dig it.
Dude, you get the superfast E. Honda Hundred Hand Slap style move, AND another move that makes anything you hit with it explode.
I named my dude WATAHHH.

Playing since launch when it worked.
The bad:
- *If* you're affected by the lag issues, you're hosed when things get nasty and it's not pretty still sometimes during prime time. That's an if, I'm one of the ones hosed by it.
- Not much diferent than D2.
- Radically unfinished as far as tuning goes - beyond constant hotfixes and nerfs and changes, you will swear at Belial in single player if you play that way. A lot. And I do mean a lot.
- Single player you're still playing 100% online. Lag affects you.
The good:
-Not much different than D2
- Relatively stable client, minimal system resources
- Still fun anyway as long as you accept that if you're one of the lucky ones with lag that you're, well, going to have a bumpy ride some nights.
Glad I didn't have to pay for it (freebie through WoW annual pass where I had another couple years of playtime paid for thanks to dumping gold for game time a year or so ago), but it's about as good as anything else out there at this point.

I will second the statement on Belial. Son of a bitch refused to go down.

I feel very bad for the people that have been having lag issues.
Didn't have much trouble with Belial but maybe the Witch Doctor just suits that battle.
Haven't played yet with other people. Have only played single player. It's kind of annoying - all my friends play video games like day and night so they're all way ahead of me. They've already started Hell, and I'm only at the end of normal. I don't know how they can possibly be getting anything done IRL.

Yeah, I play a Barbarian. Belial is a nightmare for melee because you have no room to move away from his one move that covers half the screen. With Azmodan you could at least run away when he pulled that shit.

Belial sucks for almost anybody; no room for error if you don't have great ping.
I can do it as a rural geezer but I can blame seven years of competitive mmos for keeping my reflexes up with the downstroke or whatever the kids are doing these days.

Beat the game on Normal with my Witch Doctor tonight. Started Nightmare and I'm almost done with Act 1.

My account got hacked, and the character totally wiped of gold and items. Kind of a huge bummer really, I requested that Blizzard restore it, but their restore is limited to a rollback of sorts that reinstates your character from a pre-determined "save point" somewhere earlier in time, so I still lost several of my items acquired since then, and dropped multiple levels. I'm very sure it was foul play and not some massive bug because there's a guy in my recent players list that I've never met in my life, and I've never joined a public game. I'd recommend anyone playing to get some sort of authenticator to avoid potential major frustration.

jesus. look, i LOVED D2. spent so much time on it. and pretty much all single player. i am OFFENDED at purchasing a license to a game that i can't play if the parent company is having server issues. i thought it was just server side authenticification, i didn't realize lag would affect a SINGLE PLAYER game. that's ridiculous.
but your saves are hackable too? i was like 90% sure i wasn't going to buy it as a (probably vain since so many other people have bought it) protest against games being released this way, now i'm totally sure i want nothing to do with it.
which sucks, i loved the first 2, spent wayyyyy too much time on them, and would love to play this.

Not sure what you mean by saves are hackable, as in 'you can edit them' or "hackers can get at them."
This is certainly a title I'm glad I didn't pay full retail for (or honestly, pay anything for since I was already paying for WoW and they literally gave it away).
Truth is that I suspect that this will be a lesson to game developers about single player not in the rush to do it online, but rather, the rush to put it off regardless of piracy problems.

i was reading JSK as saying his account got hacked and a save file wiped.
i like my data stored locally. the whole cloud/server side stuff scares me. i want control of my own data, even something as inconsequential as a save file.

I'm sort of ambivalent, I still have to maintain a couple boxes for clients and well, sooner or later something goes wrong.
Only hope I have is that the online play will convince them to keep the damn client half updated for new operating systems/changes.

i just feel that if i'm paying to "own" a copy of a game that has a single player mode, it's offensive and ridiculous to rely on them to have fast, working servers to use it. i get piracy is an issue, but their solution makes me not want to pay to support them or even play a game i normally would be insanely geeked about.

i think I'm kinda disappointed with the monk. I'm only level 7, but I think I'm gonna start over. Definitely leaning toward wizard or demon hunter
