idgi. Where does all the hate for doing this come from? I sometimes do this because most of my tshirts are band shirts and it just happens that I'm wearing that one. Even if I were to do it on purpose, what makes it 'dorky' or a bad thing to do?

It's just another way of covering up my disgusting body, jeez.

Back in like 2000 when nobody knew who Autolux was but I was droolingly (?) waiting for any news/product from them, I made an Autolux shirt that I wore around like every day. If it's some band that doesn't have like mass produced shirts that you can get at Urban Outfitters, make your own and wear that shit.

Otherwise, don't be that guy.

Performers, however, are limited in their apparel choices by the fact that if they wear they own band's merch on stage, they are ass-hats and shall be ridiculed as such.

for real, there is no excuse to do this ever. If you're touring, trade that shirt for the band you play with that you hate the least.

Also wearing shirts of previous bands or related projects is also kinda mock-worthy.

I only own local/indie bands t shirts that I've wanted to support. I wore Green Paper's shirt when I played a concert this past saturday. But usually I just wear clothes... that I have. Although if I was single and looking to hit on some babes then I suppose I'd be more concerned with what I'm wearing.

As long as you're wearing the band you're seeing's boxers/briefs you'll be fine.

i feel that showing support is a good thing.
being that the best form of revenue for a band is merch, i try to buy something just so they get cash.

.....something about bands wearing their own shirts bothers me. it's the one thing that always annoyed me about joe strummer.
