I kinda hate the fact that their live shows now possess a magnum circular screen that hosts Wayne's fuckin' dome for the set's entirety. Seems kinda arrogant to me. I used to really like the Lips, but in the last few years they seem to be getting more egocentric. Like Bono egocentric, but perhaps worst. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of their work (and was once a huge fan). Really troubles me to feel this way...

wow. those are both awesome. the Borderline is beautiful, and the collaboration with Lightning Bolt is one of the best things i've ever heard.

and THAT is better than a puppy hugging a kitten inside the hollowed out chest of the Cutest Baby In The World. LB are like....... my hero's. that's so damn good.


see, i always thought they were just silly alt rock indie shit doods, had only heard radio shit. Embryonic was awesome though. like, even songs i didna dig, crazy good tones on everything.

Embryonic is and was meh to these ears. Yoshimi was bleh, Mystics was also bleh.

Zaireeka is where it's at as far as their weird shit goes, and Hit to Death>Clouds Taste is where it's at for albums.

I feel like it's not egotism. I feel like its just a lack of creativity. They do some cool stuff with it some of the time, but most of the time it's just something they're not taking full advantage of. Like a camera on Michael Ivins' bass or something like that. The Wayne-cam is kinda cool, but the could do quite a bit more with it.

Well, since they smoke a lot of pot, that can sometimes be good and sometimes bad for creativity.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I love the lips so much, but it really broke my heart in a weird way to hear that Wayne cheated on his wife with a 20 year old and they are now seperated. She lives in paris now. Plus, he seems to be on lots of drugs again and not taking care of himself. Plus the leg hole videos are just gross and not "weird and creative" or whatever.

did you hear about the whole thing with him and Erykay Badu doing that vid together? she was all pissed because he talked about showing Badu's sister nekid would be done in a woman empowering way, the sister got full frontal nekid.... he edited it so all the fluid they splashed on her went from glittery gold stuff to blood to what looks like cum and blood sprayed all over her.

which.... y'know.... HAWT. but kinda a dick move if you lie to somebody about how their naked body's going to be represented.
