No fucking joke. My main problem with japanophillia is the whole glossing over of the racism, xenophobia and supremacy inherent to the culture. It's like everyone wants to believe that it's all bubblegum princess funtimes and nobody hates anyone. I've known more than a few kids in high school who were all like "oh yeah i'm gonna go move to japan and be an anime artist." uh, no, you're not. They won't let you.

I think it's just that the culture really is so different from ours over here, people sort of fetishize it. I can't really say much about it though, I was quit the japanophile in my younger days...then I got laid.

i've been having loads of fun going through the Fan Fic Friday archive at ToplessRobot. he takes awful (in cotent, intention, or writing) fan fics and interspaces them with comments. pretty funny dooder. and some awesome pics he puts together to illustrate his ramblings.....

and i'm a HUGE fan of cosplay if it's more random stuff that goes into Pron Territory.

1. I'm starting to get pissed when people use NSFW tags when it's not something that's NSFW. Don't get my hopes up for porn then let me down dammit!

2. Liking cosplay doesn't make you a perv at all. It might make you a gigantic dork (MIGHT), but that's only if you're getting off on it mostly because you really like the anime it's from rather than the chick being hawt. If you like it because it's a hot chick in a skimpy outfit, and incidentally, you happen to be familiar with the character (or not), that's cool.

3. That SNL clip is hilarious. I remember when it first aired thinking, "Jesus! Have I known a ton of people like that in my lifetime."

4. I'm totally a perv, not so much in my pron tastes, but in ways I'd rather not admit (which is what really makes you a perv).

Yeah, I figured NSFW is more of an expression than something that needs to be taken literally, but it should at least be something explicit either sexually or violently.
