egg-zactly. it's one thing to have moderators doing stuff that is arguably lame. it's another entirely to have a flying squad of non-moderator PC brownshirts shouting down any dissent, copy-and-pasting
each other's posts because they apparently can't be arsed to write down an original thought, and telling anyone with a different opinion to leave. that's what's making this into Hipster TGP: the insistence of certain individuals in the hipster demographic on trying to force their limited, straitened, politically determined viewpoint on the community. i wouldn't presume to tell people to come and go, but theres about six people here that really need to take a look at themselves and their arrogance and shut the fuck up for awhile. the world isn't a college campus, and shit isn't as simple as your ideas lead you to believe it is.

I agree with dubkitty. Alot of people go through the liberalcollegedouchebag phase of imposing their professors viewpoint on any captive audience. I understand that people are feeling impassioned but these posts never lead to rational, calm arguments and always degenerate into name calling and butthurt accusations. Ive always thought that college students should be required to take basic logic every semester as this is one of the most useful yet ignored classes next to comp 101 and 102...not that i took either of those. Just because your community college professor assigned a cornell west or linda nochlin article for homework doesnt necessarily mean that is the only viewpoint you are going to encounter, nor does it mean we want you vomiting paraphrase allover the forum. You cant honestly expect others to be respectful of your opinions if method you chose to voice those opinions is condescending and inconsiderate of theirs. For example, in japan, when disagreeing it is customary to preface your argument with "Yes, but". Also, if you dont have a valid argument, telling people they are stupid or immature or racist or sexist and getting fucking a priori is cheap and derivative and is only fuel for bickering. I resign myself, from now on, to just ignore serious flamebait threads, I love ilf because of the lack of all seriousness....thats the way its always been. I came back because it seemed like shit had simmered down....now im not so sure. However there is always hope. Dubkitty and I are getting along.....go figure.

Pretty much what Spacey says,...and I know that I'm not immune to participating in teh dramaz,...but I'm just gonna live and let live on this forum from now on.
I think one of the hangups is that noobs are gonna come in and immediately begin joining in on pile ons and all that shit. It's unavoidable IMO,...and as much as this is a happypretendland wish; It would be nice to see all of ILF be one big happy Fuzzy Family.
Could also be some ebb and flow post holiday depression pussy bleeding shit. Gawd we are nothing but a bunch of wimminz (cue "that's sexist" replies).
FWIW,...I only took a few music classes in community college so I didn't have to suffer through any diversity classes. I did read 1984 in two days for the ENG101 prereq. That book just drew me in and made me discover that I can actually enjoy reading a book.
