BUT, I do love monster cables because if I buy the cheapest ones, I can break them, and then return them for the exact same cable AS MANY TIMES AS I WANT. I have replaced the two 21' cables I have over twenty times each. I figure that's an easy way to stick it to the man, no?

 Monster is the only non oh I got it free with something at GC cables I've ever had fail. For me a fail is a reason to never buy again.

F'realz, there's no reason to go with anything other than your local shop-branded cables.

If you disagree, take your fragile harmonics and fuck yourself.

as for the headphone side, high end Bose headphones are less of a ripoff, because while they're marked way the fuck up, theres actually an audible difference, and some people like Bose's bass boost.

but yeah, these 99 dollar A-T cans i got are probs three times as good as monster buds, or monster phones.

on the bright side, you can always tell a trust fund hipster from a regular one thanks to Beats.

Are these by chance what you have? If so, you like 'em?

Would you recommend them? My skull candies are all held together with tape now... need new ones.
Also where did you get em for 99?

If you keep your cookies current, amazon will drop the prices on things you've already looked at after two or three months (might be longer, I forget).

Thinksound have some pretty nice stuff going on, as I said, and I'll likely be picking up these Grados also, just could not believe Miles fucking Davis name was on such a product.

I don't really care for the Beats headphones either. Kinda lame. Kinda expensive.

I've had a set of M50s for a few years now and love them. I've never owned any other really quality headphones (like >$20 sets), so I can't give much of comparison review, but they sound significantly better than anything else I've had, work great for music listening/movies and tv shows/night time instrument playing, and have held up really well for the amount of abuse they've taken. I got mine for $90something from an authorized dealer on eBay, but apparently there have been a lot of fake M50s popping up in the past year or two, so you have to be really careful there now.

Lastly I like to bring up the "fact" that for a while they were using slightly oversized 1/4" plugs on their instrument and speaker cables. This may have been a QC issue or intentional but the result was essentially the bigger plugs were wearing out jacks to the point that only the slightly oversized plugs on Monster's cables were the only ones that would work on the slutified jacks. As far as I know Monster rectified that situation years ago and I will cop to not having any actual real world experience with this,...but seriously,...if those are more than mere rumors,...that's bullshit.

this is very true.
i found out when helping the guitarist in the wallflowers years ago. he found out the hard way.
i got a bunch of monster cable for free through zz. i had 4 power distros as well. i told them i wouldn't use the cable unless they fixed the 1/4 jack problem. they said they had. they did...no problem there anymore. but the cable is too stiff and doesn't play well with others.
even for free i don't like it...but for free on really long cable runs...it works fine. i'd rather not use it but can't say it doesn't work. canare and mogami are the way to go.
also.....
we had 3 power distros go down during the show. thankfully none were mine ....... i took mine out and threw 'em away.

My Planet Waves cables did that to a couple of guitars, actually. The jacks couldn't hold anything but Planet Waves after a while.

Planet Waves are just as bullshit as Monster. And all my Planet Waves stuff just kinda broke. Except one speaker cable... but that one never moves.

These cables with the molded plugs... you can't repair them, and they seem to break easier.

I will never buy monster again, their overpriced overhyped pieces of sheeit that have a lifetime warranty for a reason, cause you will have to use it if you gig or tour alot..... i love my lava's for many reasons....

As far as earbuds.... My first day in Audio 101 class my teacher asked if anyone had earbuds, a couple people rasied their hands, so he said go ahead and throw em in the trash or stab your self in the ear with a screwdriver and get it over with, they will ruin your ears through virtue of design... All earbuds have hyped 4k frequencies which vibrates your ear canal which then over time damages the tympanic membrane causing deafness or at the least loss of high frequency range hearing response.... And then he went into a nice hour long rant about how earbuds are the worst thing you can use as a recording or live sound engineer....

After that day i never use earbuds..... especially not 400$ ones....

I just picked these up and I really like them.
I can't compare them to the M50's because I've never used them. MF has a 5% of deal going now too. :idk:
