Re: anyone skate?
I'm gonna second Avondon and Jero's Idea. I skated for a good 6-7 years and for what you're asking that should be good.
You're not planning on doing anything crazy, don't worry about the concave, pop, 5823 ply whatever.
I was always a fan of royal trucks.
Reds are incredibly cheap and awesome, no one can deny that. Ever.
Big wheels are great too. I'd suggest some powell g-bones.

Re: anyone skate?
word.
thanks duders! I'm gonna shop around, see if I can find some good deals on stuff

I might look for a plain board so I can paint it myself, make it cool/keep it cheap, get some indie trucks, spitfire wheels and red bearings.
AVONDON IS THE BEST

If you want a plain board, seriously check out mini-logos. Good stuff.

Re: anyone skate?
ill check that out. for the most part, i'm going to try and get a used board with decent trucks and wheels and shit, then i can always get a new board and just move the trucks over when i get a new board

I fucked up my arm badly skateboarding, never picked up that death trap again. Rehab took 1 1/2 years, playing guitar was fucking horrible. I wouldn't pick it up if I were you.

Powell mini logo's are legit. Used several of them throughout time. They cost a good $20 less than other boards usually, and are made of the same exact wood.

I used to skate, stopped around 2 years ago, I think that both my shins and all of my neighbours are thanking me. I did get stitches on my head about my eyes... I got a boardshot to the head. Ouch.

Re: anyone skate?
Id say go with a Minilogo deck. they dont have graphics but graphics get fucked up anyway. Girl makes really great decks. Best pop I've ever had on a board was a World Industries dead willy.
Destructo trucks are cheap and lightwieght.
Wheels - i dont think wheels make much of a difference. soft wheels get fucked up quick.
Bearings - Red's Bones. cheap and smooth.
Youll spend about $80-$90 on all that.

See, I want to learn, but that's my fear. Going without playing bass would drive me up a wall.

I'd say not to do anything crazy, but I cant confirm how you'd fall, no matter what you';re doing. I fucked up my arm just going to get rice and beans

Re: anyone skate?
i'm still in a cast from breaking my leg longboarding at the beginning of september. shit's weak as fuck. and it's made me realize how obnoxious the other longboarders here at campus are, weaving in and out of people walking to class and not giving any warning. i see someone almost get hit like everyday. and, i can't skate ever again after this cast comes off, because my motherfucking foot/ankle/leg whatever the fuck else i broke will never be the same

I used to skate with a guy that has broken the same spot on his arm 4 times. Has plates there and all. I saw it happen the third time...it was gross.
