It's really an unfair business model. Congress tells them how they have to operate, but they have to function without any taxpayer funds. They can't actually run like a business-- they don't get to just raise prices like UPS and Fedex, despite higher costs or even remote areas (their pricing is divided into a few zones). And they have to deliver to -everyone.- Daily.
Maybe if we all bought $20 worth of stamps it would be like a donation... : O
This about sums it all up.

I had no idea the USPS was in any kind of trouble.

They only lost like 10 billion last year. If FuzzHugger lost 10 billion, the government would probably shut me down on Saturdays.
On the bright side, you will have had $10 billion to lose!

USPS is the ish. I use them above all other carriers. I also love getting mail on Saturdays, but don't really care if I don't anymore

let 'em have the day off

I'm not sure if mail moves on Saturdays here (Canada) anyways... I feel this is something i should know, being a grown man who has lived in this country his entire life and does in fact receive mail on a regular basis

It's just straight up unfair that a government controlled business is losing this much money and
continues to have service that is world's better than the private guys.
Fuck Fedex and UPS. If we got rid of them there would be no "underutilized post offices".
Call me a socialist but this is an industry where it shouldn't be allowed to open a private business in, especially
if their gonna do a shit job. As said before why should the USPS be expected to turn a profit? Just make sure
yer employees get paid and the public is happy. The government has never had a problem with losing it's money before

Mail on Saturdays was never something I consistently depended on, just more of a pleasant surprise when it did happen. As much as Saturday pedal/vinyl/dildo mail surprises are awesome, I shall make due without them.

Not to be a commie socialist Leninist pinko *insert unamerican term* but fuck big business why can't we balance textbook communism and capitalism?
not what the government is for
Whey should everyone pay taxes on something that they may not want?

Like Paul said he is a doctor and would not turn anyone away. In fact it is illegal to turn people away from an emergency room. I understand where you are all coming from I grew up in a very liberal house hold. I considered myself liberal until I took AP government in high school. I was introduced to Thomas Jefferson and Aleister Crowley (not both in ap government) and my world view changed.
Ron Paul is not insane but a lot of his "followers" are.

fix'd(note I left the Ron Paul part on purpose)
In actuality, more things get tax exemption 501(c)(
insert number status than you'd think. They just have to turn their profits around and put it back into the organization not someone's pocket. Then they are exempt from taxes on their revenues; Nonprofit doesn't mean you don't make a profit, you just don't keep it. If they can prove they're doing some sort of of "public good"(soup kitchens, United Way, etc.), they get 501(c)(3) status which makes donations to them tax deductible.
