Just talked to my dad and he said that even though it was supposedly the worst part of the storm; winds were weak and they were just getting some rain.

Shit yeah!

It's just rainy here. Every now and then you get a gust of wind. There are lotsa downed limbs on my yard.
A news reporter went on a rant over how people should stop crying about their power being out 'cause they aren't going to send anybody out right now. It was basically like "No electricity? Fuckin' DEAL WITH IT :animal: ". A moment of silence afterward.

It made me lol.

Ye, but I'm not in RVA right now, Woodbridge. However, I just got off the phone with some friends there and they have power and heavier rain.

I'm in RI by CT. they evacuated the beach by my house but I'm about a half mile from that zone. I lol'ed at my friend in NJ that put plywood on his house. just cause you are close to the city but not in the city doesn't mean you should be worried

there are actually a few computer simulations that predict flooding. here is one of them.

if you get high enough winds driving waves up tidal inlets, river channels, or other narrow waterways, you could get hella flooding.

Yes, it sounds trippy, but one of the strange aftermaths of a hurricane is an increased amount of mushrooms popping up -- especially the psilocybin -- or "magic" kind -- the ones that cause hallucinations.

According to Dr. Casey Simon, an addiction expert based in Orange County, Calif., hurricanes create the perfect climactic conditions for the mushrooms to grow.

"Mushrooms are spores and they multiply in moisture and are spread by wind," he told HuffPost Weird News.

Dr. Suneil Jain, a naturopathic physician in Scottsdale, Ariz., goes even further.

"The moisture, humidity, the wind and the temperature during hurricanes is the perfect climate for mushrooms," he told HuffPost Weird News. "Also, both hurricanes and mushroom growth are associated with new or full moons, so there may be a lunar element as well."
