“And are real proactive,” said Luis. “And like are getting things done, and never quit their jobs. Those people suck.”

The word “announcing” was almost twice as long as normal.

lololol my posting tao lin shit (did you define that as dumbing down the conversation, or was it the otters?) was in response to the general spirit of the thread which was pretty stupid, in my (semi)intelligent and subversive opinion. not that there's anything wrong with complaining about the current state of american education, outsourcing or talking about space travel or anything, but the way it accumulated indicated it wasn't going anywhere that would give justice to either of those (extremely complex) topics. i didn't mistake it for 'mean spirited argument,' i just felt the urge to throw the conversation off track yo.

and if you are talking about the otters, if you're defining subversive (semi)intelligent debate about tao lin's writing as "That sucked. You think that fruity asian poseur is awesome? Let me tell you about awesome, etc..." then i have nothing to respond with but now, do i personally think tao lin is awesome? i dunno, there's a lot of interesting stuff in his work. he has a lot of interesting ideas and i find him just to be an interesting person, probably (at least partially) because of how people seem to generally flip shit when you mention him in literary circles. i like how polarizing he is. what kind of subversive (semi)intelligent debate can you really make about that manner of opinion?

in conclusion to probably the longest post i've written on ilf, honestly there wasn't ever any subversive (semi)intelligent debate going on in this thread and i find it incredibly humorous that you chose to use the words subversive (semi)intelligent debate.
