Re: Help me find gifts for my awesome bro (Update: gifts on
Oh man, surprising my brother with "My present is: we're in a band now!" would've been pretty good.
He and I never really got along musically, though. I've always been into roots, folk, jazz, blues, classic rock, and now, alt-country, and he's always been a lot more into the BRUTALZ. Maybe we could've met in the middle in liking Dire Straits or something.
We probably could've collaborated and become the Avett Brothers, before the Avett Bros existed. Oh well.
Edit: Some more thoughts on the Klon klone: It doesn't really do the boosted/saturated lead thing. On my SG, the 4th and 5th strings sounded great, the 6th string (where I usually end up on most of my solos and do bends) was much weaker. Dunno if that was my pickups interacting with the Klone or what. I certainly preferred the sound of single coils with the Klone over my SG's humbuckers. I didn't think to try my BYOC triboost in germ treble boost mode in front of it to see if I could get a good lead solo sound out of it. So you may actually have to run the Klone to overdrive your amp, and then a boost to boost your leads into it. Note that I wasn't using a real tube amp with it, so I couldn't take advantage of the huge volume gain the Klone can generate.
