and we dont? musician hear say much..
im an engineer and have lots of engineer friends and met lots of crusty old engineers and we all use mics on bass because we do factor in amp cab and speaker choice as key sources
so the next time I'm selling high end recording gear I should mention that I need his full name and website so I can prove how cool I am on some forum. yeah that'll go down great at work. I have talked to so many people in my years that its just obvious to me that most people dont mic it. lets just say that out of 1000 people, 800 dont mic it in the studio. no real names necessary. perhaps the 200 people that mic it are the only real engineers. ones with bass traps and room decouplers. or maybe its different where you live. I realize now that my remark was a little condescending and I do apologize.

your in australia? it could be that. I know that gear and recording techniques are as different as the music when you switch coasts in the usa.

My last recording was made with just a random mic we had. We set it front of the speaker and let it go. I have yet to observe the results. Oh god I hope it turns out ok.
