Me and my friends have a list of movies (know as The List. creative, I know) that are viscerally or emotionally disturbing. Serbian Film is on it. The gore isn't so much what got us, it was more some of the emotional aspects. For me, it was the look on the face of the woman after she gives birth (hopefully that's vague enough to prevent spoilers for those who are planning on seeing it) that really did it. The gore was awesome, but overall just the emotional stuff in it really got to me.

The Audition, while a slow starter, is FANTASTIC. The ending scene that was posted earlier blew my goddamn mind.

Oldboy is a great film, I watch it on a regular basis. For those unaware, it's the second part of a trilogy, the first being Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and the last being Sympathy for Lady Vengeance.

Ichi the Killer was quite enjoyable as well, though the nipple-cutting scene definitely gave me the shivers.

Tokyo Gore Police (along with Machinegirl) was great for a laugh. Too ridiculous to really bother me.

I've yet to see Cannibal Holocaust, though it's on my movie night groups list of films to watch.

Speaking of, on Sunday we watched I Saw the Devil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Saw_the_Devil). The trailer on youtube and the wiki entry do not do this film justice. Some awesome gore, for fans of those things, but the story itself is also pretty sadistic and a bit of a mindfuck. I'd highly recommend it.

Cannibal Holocaust is pretty amazing. It's very raw looking so they had to clear that the deaths were fake. I did rather enjoy it.

A Serbian Film just doesn't sound enjoyable.

And does the Revenge trilogy really even fall into this genre?

I don't remember anything really over the top in any of them...

Boy do I love me some crazy Asian horror/whatever the fuck you call that shit shit though.

If you haven't seen it, Robogeisha is good for a chuckle if you liked Machine Girl. Same director, but not quite as good.

I wouldn't say it falls into it, but it was brought up so I figured I'd weigh in. I enjoy the films immensely though.
