If I may add my $0.02...It seems that this event is causing two central problems.
1.) it's making the U.S. look really horrible in front of the Muslim world, as if they needed any more ammo against us.
2.) It's making Christians (like myself) look like bigotted idiots in front of everybody else..in our own country, I might add.

Just my opinion..but I felt this point should be brought up..
And, yes, I realize my points are rather obvious..just felt I shouldn't keep silent.

giving a perspective of how america looks
the guy obvs doesnt represent all americans but when everyone i knew heard about it they laughed and said only in america would this happen like it didnt surprise anyone in sydney

Well, the problem is, we can't "do something", other than heap down scorn on these fucking wackos, and call them fucking wackos (which are all doing). Our country is founded upon the idea that fucking wackos can do and say fucking wacko things, as long as they aren't assaulting people or infringing other's rights. Which they aren't, really.

The all share the same diety (Yahweh, Allah, God the Father, etc are all the same)

Christianity and Islam are both breakoff groups from Judaism

Judaism believes in several prophets, in addition to Moses.
Christianity believes that Jesus was more than just a prophet, they believe he was the messiah that was prophesied in the Old Testament. That is why he was crucified (claiming to be the messiah and son of God is pretty blasphemous)
Islam also believes that Moses, Noah, Jesus and all of the guys from the bible were also prophets. They just think that Mohammed was the most important prophet.
