I grew up in the Chicago 'burbs, and have been a Hawks fan for as long as I remember.

I hope they get that ice nice and cold in Vancouver, else Luongo will be tending goal in a puddle of his own tears...

...again. :poke:

I think the Hawks are going to do better than a lot of people expect.

The Kane/Toews/Sharp line is one of the best when they are hot, and what team wouldn't want the Seabrook/Keith pairing on defense? Crawford has been solid all year. Hossa has been great, as well.

Yeah, we shipped off Buff, Eager, Ladd, Burish, etc, but we're still a very solid hockey team, and now with Stanley Cup experience.

Tonight's game is on Vs. I'll be able to watch, but won't be able to listen. Prior commitments. :(

Alexander motherfucking Edler = most underrated defenceman in the NHL?

Edler was just fucking awesome tonight, I thought it was a toss-up between him and Luongo for the best player on the ice.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, as the Canucks won the first game against the Hawks the last two series they played, but it really looks like the Hawks just don't have the depth to compete anymore. They really, really miss Byfuglien, Ladd, Versteeg, Sopel et al. The dropoff from their first line was way more noticeable than I expected. Seriously, the ice time of the Toews line couldn't have been much less than the combined ice time of the Sedin and Kesler lines combined. And I can see why Quenville broke up the Campoli-Leddy D pairing halfway through the game, every time they were on the ice together it looked like a couple of AHLers out there.

I don't expect this to be an easy series for the Canucks, it won't be a sweep. But I honestly believe that if the Canucks can beat the Hawks and exorcise some demons from the last two seasons, they will go on to win the Cup. But hey, I'm biased, I'm sitting here wearing my Burrows jersey.

Heh... just keep in mind that the Canucks beat the Hawks 5-1 in the opener last year, and 5-3 in the opener the year before... and they lost both series.

From what I saw-- and it wasn't much-- it looked like the game could have gone the other way, if only the goal post didn't have such quick reflexes.

It's going to be a good series, I'm sure. :)

In my lifetime, I've seen the Bears win the Superbowl (although I was only 7), the Whitesox win the World Series, and the Hawks win the Stanley Cup. I saw the Bulls win the championship so many times that I hate basketball. And, perhaps most importantly, the Cubs have pretty much always sucked. What more could a Chicago sports fan want? :p

Hooray for VS blacking out my NHL Gamecenter Live feed for tonight's game.

I refuse to pay for cable,...so any game that gets broadcast on VS or NHLN will be blacked out. Gamecenter Live tries in vain to compensate by providing a radio feed so you can listen to the game which is bullshit. The lesson is; pay out the nose to watch the games on your computer and get screwed on the games you actually want to watch.

I'd be happy to pay a reduced rate for cable if I could get just VS and the NHLN (the rest of Cable TV is a wasteland) and also Gamecenter Live but I'm poor.

EDIT,...Nevermind,...looks like I won't be getting blacked out until next week.

Not a good start for the Ducks.

ESPN America is airing Habs/Bruins and Sharks/Kings tonight. Going to record both then try to avoid hockey sites at work so I can enjoy the games when I get home.

yeah,...I can't stand knowing a score before I watch the game.

I know there are some p2p streaming sites so I can catch the games that are blacked out but often times the feed blows.

Usually I end up not watching the game after finding out the score. During the regular season I'll leave it on my DVR so I can come back to it a few months later when I'll have forgotten the score, but that doesn't work during the play-offs.

Woke up at 5:30am so I could get in the Habs/Bruins game before work. First period is why I love hockey, intense pace and hits everywhere with plenty of skill. The Habs from last year are definitely back, very solid team with good goaltending and just enough players that can score a goal to win.

When it was over they switched to the Flyers/Sabres game for the last 10 minutes. Flyers didn't impress, hopefully Pronger comes back soon for you guys.

The BUF/PHI game is intense. Sabres keep getting called but so far the Flyers PP has been quiet,...with the exception of the Leino Goal.

EDIT: Now it's the Flyers' turn to take dumb penalties.
