As near as I can tell, he's got a VERY specific idea of what good bass tone is supposed to be and isn't afraid to defend that idea. I don't think he's ever claimed that he's right and everyone else is freakin' WRONG tho, but he can come off as a know-it-all at times. I think it's more of a tone-specific narrow point of view, but that's just me.

he's a fuck that is in love with his toobs to the point of telling efx noobs on TB that fuzz doesn't work with solid statw amps. i don't have any experience with tubes, no opinions on them, and he makes me want to stay solid satate till i die. and apparently he's kinda a shit paint by numbers player to go along with his dick-hole personality issues. his clips of gear have always been shit, but he's even more boring in a band context. good for him.

Given his specific viewpoint, I was actually kinda surprised to find that he uses pedals at all.

He thinks he is the Hendrix'O'bass [tonewise] what I don't like about his attitude about amps is it gives people the wrong idea about tube amps and their uses.

With Mark, he only likes mudbuckers through toobz. For pedals, he's only into vintage-sounding stuff. So, basically anything that sounds like it was made before 1975 is fine. Wahs, fuzz-face or octavia-style fuzzes, and univibes. That's about it.

He thinks anything else sounds like dogshit. He's not bashful about that opinion. Everyone over at Talkbass either thinks his clips sound monstrously awesome or like muddy dogshit. I've had some PM conversations where he was useful (about a low-wattage tube amp that sounds good for bass, and when I was looking for a univibe). Otherwise, I mostly avoid his threads.

And fuzz through tubes is different. I like it much more than SS, but it's all about different flavors. Sometimes you go for the tangy. Sometimes the tart. I think we can all assume that Behndy is the umami.

More importantly, for someone who stresses how much he gigs and how professional he is, I don't think I've ever heard any recordings of his band. That puzzles me.
